The problem
Eh, this is just curing a symptom not the actual disease.
Mark Stein has been tweeting that we seriously pursued Mike Brown when Gentry was fired and apparently again this month, but he's more interested in Cleveland.
First, LOL.
Second, thank God he isn't interested.

OMG... this management team is truly clueless.
Mike Brown was a Blanks guy, so maybe pursuing Mike Brown was the last straw. LOL
We can only hope, right?
This move goes a long way in instilling my confidence in the front office and rebuilding effort. I really like Babby and the direction he wants to take the franchise. I'm willing to give Babby a Mulligan with the Blanks hire as long he gets the next hire right. Blanks wasn't able to do too much damage, and now we actually have some decent assets to work like our picks, Gortat, and Scola. What Sarver and co do with these assets is extremely important, and I'm glad Blanks won't be making the decisions.
This is the way I feel about it. No more excuses for Babby though. I disagree Blanks wasn't able to inflict much damage, i.e., targeting Beasley.

IIRC, Beasley only has two years guaranteed, and we got a couple bench players out of our late lottery picks. We dodged a bullet with Eric Gordon. It could have been a lot worse.
We did sign Dragic, plucked a diamond in the rough with Tucker, and nabbed Scola.
I thought the third year of Beasley's 18M dollar contract was partially guaranteed. However, I can't readily support it with a link.
Does that mean the third year is like a team option?I thought the third year of Beasley's 18M dollar contract was partially guaranteed. However, I can't readily support it with a link.
I don't understand why people think that being an assistant GM under a successful GM is any sort of qualification.
Does that mean the third year is like a team option?
Are you serious?
Yes I am, Blanks was assistant to good GMs what did that do for him?
Will being an assistant to another GM teach you to evaluate players? Assistant GM's don't make decisions. Assistant GM's are water boys kind of.
Good riddance. Now will Sarver learn from his mistakes? The new GM will be Sarver's 5th GM in seven years.

Hiring a guy like Sloan, Jackson, etc would go a long way in reestablishing the franchise's credibility.
Sarver is facing a rapidly declining season ticket base and dwindling attendance. He needs to make a splash with the next hire. Will he actually do it? Remains to be seen...
