First of all, i was using the articles i was reading at the time and their opionions. I admitted my mistake. Something real men do. If you choose to take my admission and rub it in my face questioning my character... then so be it. Besides, were talking about one small part of the trade anyway.

The point of this whole conversation to begin with what that someone pointed out that we didnt just get Gasol for free. The fact is we mortgaged part of our future to do so. Unless of course you dont think developing draft picks and/or dumping a 9 mil contract is important in a teams future.

And excuse me if i feel comments such as "your being disingeneous, post nonsense, cant be objective, and myopic homer" are questioning my character. Those comments are very much directed to the person, not the argument.

But you forgot cheese, marc gasol is tearing up all those stiffs in europe, and memphis fans like cigars and gum. Besides crittenton could be the next chris paul. We just dont know how that trade will turn out. It could be highway robbery and it could be just grand larceny!

There is no doubt we are looking at it from opposite extremes. I have never denied it was/is a great deal for the lakers. However, for people to imply the lakers got him for nothing is absurd. No need to go over the pieces.

Trades are not evaluated completely at the time of trade. We traded Caron Butler for Kwame for example. At the time it was a small risk because Caron had not yet developed into the all star hes become. You look at it now and it goes from small risk to outright insane. With picks involved, its even more hypothetical. I happen to value draft picks.

Everyone is acting like Gasol is the new Kareem or Wilt. He fits in great with our team. The piece we needed. He's a very good offensive player but in my opinion very weak defensively. Reality says hes a one time all star in a 7 year career. He's soft in the middle. You guys yourself have said if we matched up with you in the playoffs that Amare would simply crush him. Yes, the same amare you all are now bagging on. But regardless, hes a quality player and his style fits in perfectly with us.

So, yes, maybe i am looking through rose colored glasses. Don't we all at some time when it comes to our teams?

My opinion was, is, and will continue to be that it was a good deal for us. I am concerned about the possible impact the loss of picks could create as i value developing them (turiaff,farmar,sasha,walton etc). The 9 mil also could have been used to get a very good FA in the off season so I do not think we got him for "BASICALLY NOTHING". I will wait to judge the overall trade when the picks are used and all is said and done. I don't know how you can do otherwise. But that is my opinion and i'm entitled to it while wearing rose glasses ot not.

If that makes me myopic and disengenious... then so be it.
