I'm glad they are biting the bullet and moving to a 4-3. Yes this season will most likely have it's growing pains but it will be better for the future.

Also with so many teams moving to a 3-4 over the past years it makes finding 4-3 players a little easier. This league is cyclical as it bounces between 3-4 and 4-3 in popularity.

Unless something drastic happens, I don't see us rising drastically in 2019.

If Keim uses the same time table as he did last time, they will be looking to take their shot at the title again in 2020. Seems like Keim likes the 3 year plan.

Fans wanted change, and they now got it/have it. If those same fans are upset, then why where they clamoring for change ?

Wonder if we're going to go a complete 180 and tab somebody like Vander Esch or Roquan Smith in the first. Get Wilks his Keuchly.

I hate to say it, but if he drops, Tremaine Edmunds would be a heck of a risk/reward pick. A risk because he is a bit of a man without a position, a reward because he is a 6'5" 253lbs man who runs a 4.54, and can play both on the outside and the inside.

That is a rarity. But a huge risk.

It might be a 4-3 base but pretty much everybody plays some type of hybrid.

I'm not looking forward to this season ugh

We should be used to it by now considering how the last 2 seasons have gone. Another mediocre, ho-hum, 7-9 or 6-10 here we come.

Gotta get a 3rd rusher in the first three rounds as a rotational guy and a hedge against Golden's failure. That's one reason I was surprised they let Mauro go — he was solid as a rush end in that over front.

Gunter and Nkimdeche should be a nice rotation in the middle.

The middle is really nice, IMO but yeah we need another rusher. I do wonder how much of Mauro being let go was some sort of inkling that he was going to be suspended.

That happens to almost every franchise. Our team was quietly but almost entirely revamped by season 2 with Arians.

Honestly though, this makes me even less confident about this season. A bunch of guys playing out of position. Chandler's played there before and has done well of course, but he'll need to add bulk again. Golden? Not designed to be down. In fact, I'd say Reddick should play his position, but that's frustrating, given that we drafted him to be a 3-4 ILB. Bynes as our starting MLB? Count me very skeptical, since he was undrafted and finds himself on his third team. Not that he isn't a solid role player, but relying on him concerns me. So does the depth at tackle, although I can see Nkemdiche or Pierre thriving at under like Dockett before them.

I just don't know where these pieces plug in.

All of that said, I think we're looking to crash and burn this year, only to rise drastically in 2019.
Golden played 4-3 DE in college

That that t h a t sounds like quintessential Keim pick, no?

Line looks pretty good with Jones at RDE but Golden might struggle a bit on running downs unless he stays wide of the tackle. It will be interesting to see who the Cards will pick in the first two rounds if its not a quarterback. All the top linebackers might be there at 15 if they choose to go that way. Vita Vea and Denzel Ward would be my other top defensive picks.

Do you think it will be the lb from Georgia forgot his name....
Roquan Smith. Super athletic but also not very big. Worried that he'll get eaten up by NFL O-Linemen when they get their hands on him. He's great in the open field, and solid tackler. Could be the next Thomas Davis.

I think South Carolina state darius leonard is the closest version to Thomas Davis, roquan Smith remind me ernie sims coming out of college

Golden was a D-end in College and both have the size to play the position in a 4-3.
