Maybe is he looks at how many times he fumbles, he would have an idea as to why he doesn't play so much.
Bingo! And if Beanie can't figure that out, then it comes as no surprise that he has been slow to learn the offensive assignments!

I really hope it starts to come together with this kid! The Cardinals are going to need him to play well...

Hold the ball Beanie. That is all. FFS, you can't get reps if you bobble it every 4th touch. That said, your talent is clear as long as you hold the rock.

Much better called game, IMO. Second half last week, if we had playcalled as we did this game, we would have beaten the Texans by 14.

The Whiz hate was wrong and I was wrong. I never could have imagined that Beanie is this bad holding onto the ball this far into the season. I guess it was clear in practice.

I hope he fixes this issue quickly

The kid missed the vast majority of camp. He looks very unsure of himself and frankly, even when he did decide to hold onto the ball today, he really didn't look any better than did Hightower.
I have no doubt Beanie has upside far beyond that of Hightower. But, I think today showed very clearly that Beanie is suffering from missing so much camp time.
Whiz was spot on with regard to how he's been dealing with Beanie...

Beanie is suffering from not knowing how to run the football. Now we know why he was still around at 31.

if he can hang onto the ball he'll make this offense a lot better, he gives us a threat that TH just doesn't give us. The problem right now is you hold your breath on every carry hoping he doesn't fumble.

I have to admit today got me concerned because he again had one clear fumble and one almost fumble. He needs to get past it because he has the talent to make this team better.

Our running backs are suffering from not getting any run blocking that is worth a ____. It's hard to do anything when you're getting hit in the backfield or at the LOS for most of the 2nd half.

What he said...

This does not relieve Beanie of the ball security problem though. He needs to fix that or keep warming the bench.

I get the coaches being nervous about Wells holding onto the ball. I do. However, Hightower is no starting RB. If it wasn't for the "D" playing so well, we were ripe for a comeback. Hightower just isn't going to cut it.

Hightower really and truly cant be judged fairly behind this OL. IMO no RB can they suck terribly.

That has been the excuse since he got here. No offense but we have had some horrible offensive lines here before and when we did have a talented back you could occasionally see flashes of what that back could do even behind a bad line. We are barely getting a flicker from a bulb on it's way to getting burned out with Hightower.

Nope. Timmy has some pretty damned good hard nosed runs. The problem is our slow developing run plays and our OL that cant hold a hole to save their freaking lives and our RB's constantly getting hit in the backfield. Its been happening for about 2 years now all to regularly.

If you watch the replay on one of the runs to the right Beanie got the corner then slipped turning upfield. If he hadn't slipped (the field was bad), he would have taken that one to the house. He forces the other team to respect the run; Hightower doesn't. The fumble problem has to be fixed, but that's coaching and repetition. They won't be in the game at several points in their schedule unless they use him. The the Whiz' credit, he kept putting him out there.

P.S. The line is terribly bad. I'm surprised Grimm has done better, but truly he has no functional tackles. It scares me to think that Wells is the best guy on the line. He was once the worst.

Or dancing at the hole like you are waiting for permission to run through it in the first half.

Now the guy is going to be thinking about holding on to the ball instead of running. He looked like a fullback with both arms wrapped tightly around the ball later in the game. So much for his vaunted stiff arm. Maybe he can stiff elbow defenders instead. Leland Wells. Has a certain symmetry to it.

Holding onto the football was NOT a problem. I think he fumbled a total of one time his entire college career as a freshman. He knows how to run the football too. Ohio State ran him like Larry Johnson and the Chiefs for 3 years...... Injury concerns were the only reason IMO why he was available at 31.

Yeah but if I keep bashing him he'll start playing better. Just like when Warner was being bashed and the next game set a league record for completion %. Just like Alan Branch who was the #1 whipping boy on ASFN is now playing lights out. Just like our pass rush which was bashed unmercifully last week getting 5 sacks this week. Or McFadden who I bashed for being a sissy tackler and now he's HITTING people or DRC who two weeks ago was bashed for his poor play and then returns an INT for a TD and has a terrific game yesterday.

For some reason though this doesn't seem to work for Levi Brown.

You have the smartness. We better bash Rackers as well. He can't make clutch kicks on the road in NYC on Sunday night. We should get a Brazilian kicker to replace him

Any running back can get a "hard nosed" run if they get enough carries eventually. As I said before, Tim isn't the first running back we have had to play behind a bad Cards offensive line. Edge was better then Tim behind the same bad line last year.

He has shown me nothing to indicate he is starting material. I picture Tim as a 3rd down back or goal line back. That's it.
