Ef the niners. Stop slobbering on them. This is ASFN, not ESPN.

:mulli:

the original poster, for starters.

They are representing themselves, nothing more. Their players have had nothing but assface things to say about the Cardinals, and they don't represent anything beyond their own franchise.

There is NO chance any goodwill the niners winning would bestow on the division, it would simply be "finally the glorious niners have emerged from the horrible NFC West...the only real team in that group."

Once the Niners are eliminated, my playoffs will be effectively over and I won't care much who wins. Just the off chance they might sniff a title is abhorrent to me and I'll be angry until they are shoved aside and shat upon by any team, any team at all...including the Patriots.

CT, you are not simply giving credit where credit is due (which I could never do but I can accept you doing with much cringing); you are now "pulling" for this group of assnecks that talk crap about the Cardinals every chance they get.

That's the point of a message board. It's not a place to pat someone on the ass for being "classy" if you vehemently disagree with them.

A BILLION times all of these!

Can't root for them. In my best Mike Singletary voice, can't do it, won't do it.

7 OC's and 3 HC's in 7 years. Do you think maybe that might have something to do with that Bodha?
Excuses. He's a bIg part of the reason they have went through 7 OC's and 3 HC's. He did play well yesterday though. Of course, the likes of Mark Rypien and Jeff Hostettler have had nice playoff games too. So, I don't put 1 game over 7 years of below mediocre QB play.

I'll never root for the Whiners. The only thing I hate more is their fans. Did a Cards supporter actually say they were happy for 49er fan? OMFG! Most arrogant, insufferable fanbase in America.

I would cheer for Kim Jong Un if he were playing against the Niners.

**** the 49ers. Go to the Smack Shack and join BlowHard if you want to give them any credit.

I still hate their ****ing team and poopy city with a passion.

I couldn't help but notice more than half the jersey's in that stadium were 15+ years old.

All the Montana, Young and Rice fans, dusted off their old gear and made it to the playoff game.

/fairweather represent!

It was always fun when the 4and9er fans would start talking smack about their Super Bowl wins and we'd reply "yeah my grandfather told me about those games." Or "are any of the players from those games still alive?"

Sorry. I can't get behind the 49ers. I want to see them crushed every time they play. I've been to enough home games @ the UoP to know better. If it was the Seahawks or the Rams then "maybe" I could understand.

Niners have some great players of the past that I will always respect. But beyond that.. can't do it.

Before the Cardinals came to Arizona my Brother used to be a Niners fan. When we both switched to Cardinals fans day one his resentment to the Niners grew and grew to now days he enjoys seeing them blown out. That is the effect the Niners fans and players have on feelings towards that team if you go to live games.

In Niner world their team should not be part of the NFCW, and it is an insult to them that they are. The Niners winning does not help the NFCW in any way, if you listened to them on a regular basis.

Even Seahawk fans and Rams fans hate the Niners. They are the enemy to most in our division. Go read the Seahawks or Rams fans boards sometimes. Most are rooting just as hard as us to see the Niners collapse.

Here is a link to a Seahawks message boards where they are making their feelings on the matter known. http://www.seahawks.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=41758

When the Card's where making our run to the SB teams in our Division were actively rooting for us in alot of cases. **With the exception of the Niner's fans**

Nobody has to "get behind the niners" to give them respect. They've earned it, and it's extremely hypocritical to say otherwise with all the kvetching this board does about respect.

Cheers

They played a good game of football and beat the Saints. There's their respect. Outside of that I won't "get behind", root for, or otherwise be happy for them that they won.

On the other hand I get the distinct impression that this isn't a two way street. I recall the Cards run to the SB and I vaguely remember any respect from their fans for our team. So it is difficult to parley any olive branches to them.

If we make the absolute lowest base distinction between "respect" and "good will" then this topic title will have more clarity. I don't think to many posters here are challenging that opinion? Do they deserve that respect could be a whole nother' thread. Or better, do the Niners expect respect regardless of their teams recent history or performance, outside of this year. Cause normally they come off as "expecting" respect having earned or not.

I respect their game yesterday and the intense rivalry we have with them, good team to battle year in and year out. But, I without a doubt love it when they lose - and don't want to see them progress any further. (and many others apparently) Respect or not. Let's hope next time Cards are on top they (fans & team) give us the same.

It never hurts to be the bigger (f)an, IMO. In fact, if you want to be the superior fan, we'd do what's right every time and not stoop to their asshattery.

This is the last I'll say on the subject. I think everyone knows where I stand.

Congrats to the Niners.

Good for them, and it was nice to watch their fans, and their team enjoy and take advantage of playing in the post season. I know they have a long history of success but they have not been in the playoffs for a long time, thus the kudos.

They are our rivals, and I will hate them next year, and every game after, but they are a good rival to have.

It is not like hating the Cowboys. I just want them to lose all the time. They could lose 32 in a row by 62 pts each time, and I will still root for them to lose with everything I got.

Niners? For a rival. Good team. So, since our season is over. Good for the "bad guys". Congrats to our antagonist.

Good stuff!

When it comes to the Niners, not only am I willing to stoop to their asshattery, I am willing to duck below it.:p

Agreed!

Was the game good? You bet, but the VAST majority of Whiner fans I see at UoP are flat out a~holes.

And, don't be surprised if they have a sophomore slump next year.

  • I hate the 49er's - they're the "new Cowboys", to me. And I still, and always will, hate the Cowboys.
  • Watching Jim Harbaugh's grimacing, scowling, whining mug on the sideline during a game is almost unbearable.
  • But I have to admit, when they needed their offense to win the game against the Saints and they came up with big offensive plays and pulled it off, I couldn't help but be somewhat impressed.
So I still hate them, but my respect for the quality of their team increased just a little.

Smith had an amazing 4th quarter, I still can't believe how well he played in the 4th.

The 4.9ers, on offense, played far better than I thought they were capable of. I can't stand them, and I will always root AGAINST them.

I hope the Giants destroy them, and if not, I hope they lose in the SB by the most lop-sided score in the history of the game.

[Edit: Oh, and I hope Alex Smith signs with another team this off-season, and goes on to have a HOF career elsewhere, while SF slumps back down to the dregs of the division for another decade, searching for a replacement to run their offense.]

Go Cards!!!
