This was discussed at great length before. Some people, including me, thought there was a decent chance that Gugliotta would "do the right thing" and at least accept a buyout. Other people insisted that there was no way Gugliotta would give up a dime.
Shortly after the season ended, Gugliotta said in an interview that he would take his option, and he laughed off suggestions to the contrary as absurd. So I was wrong on this one.

No, but if Gugliotta were to decline his option, the Suns would be able to use their median exception (about $4.5 million) without going into luxury tax range -- or at least not far into the range. As it is, every FA they add will mean increasing their luxury tax burden, which is exactly why the Suns figure to be very quiet on the FA market this summer.
