It's not at all clear to me that the Lakers are really interested in Dragic. I know we keep hearing those reports, but they strike me as stirring the pot rather than substantive.

lol on twitter they are already saying that

Drabic wants to follow Nash around

If Dragic thinks a dumpster fire is a perfect fit, it becomes apparent that the guy doesn't give a crap about winning and just wants to run his own team.

I'm more saddened at the loss of Ennis than the Lakers pick. I thought he was a silly pick but he played team ball down in the D-League where everyone is looking out for their own stats. And he scored just fine when they laid off him. I won't be shocked if he turns out to the best player involved in all these trades.

I'm with you on Ennis. I hated that we drafted Ennis because we had enough PGs on the roster but I don't think its a stretch to say he was the closest thing we had to a true unselfish PG.

I think he has a good future in this league. And apparently Jason Kidd does too

Miami is already seeing his classy side, he's already tweeting best wishes for teammates he hasn't even played or met with yet.

https://twitter.com/Goran_Dragic/status/568869790476972032

Like Paul Coro who has covered sports for a long time said, Dragic was the nicest athlete he's ever met or known. The past couple days of drama isn't gonna just change that.

Bosh is unfortunately done for the season and maybe even career.

The Dragic brothers and Wade are going to have to carry that team... at least until the Dragic brothers leave for the Lakers.

I don't know if I would put much stock into what a LA beat writer is gonna say. Lakers and Knicks media always think that every star FA is gonna sign with them every season.

Well, it looks the Heat need Goran even more if they are going for a championship this season.
I saw Goran playin well for Miami mainly due to the deadly compbination of him and Bosh together on the pick and pop. It would have been a lot more effective than Dragic-Frye combo from last season which was also lethal.

With Bosh out, I'm now not completely sure that Goran will play as well in Miami as everyone else (particularly the media) thinks he will.
Wonder if Riley knew about this before the trade?
If Bosh is gone for the year they may struggle to even make the playoffs.

I think they should still make playoffs barring yet another injury to one of their best players. But this Bosh injury will keep them from going any further than the 2nd round imo.

OK. If Bosh is done for his career, and the Heat owe 1st round picks to the Cavs and Suns, what kind of future does that team have?

Aging Wade on a near max deal.
Dragic on a Max deal.
Limited draft picks.
Cap space.

According to ReamGM, this is what they owe:

2015 first round draft pick to Philadelphia
Miami's 1st round pick to Philadelphia (via Cleveland) protected for selections 1-10 in 2015 and 1-10 in 2016 and unprotected in 2017 [Cleveland-Miami, 7/9/2010; Cleveland-Minnesota-Philadelphia, 8/23/2014]

2016 second round draft pick to Boston
Miami's 2016 2nd round pick to Boston [Boston-Golden State-Miami, 1/15/2014]

2017 first round draft pick to Phoenix
Miami's 1st round pick to Phoenix protected for selections 1-7 in 2017 (conveyable if Miami conveys a 1st round pick to Philadelphia in 2015) and 1-7 in 2018 (conveyable if Miami has conveyed a 1st round pick to Philadelphia by 2016) and unprotected in 2019 [Miami-New Orleans-Phoenix, 2/19/2015]

2017 second round draft pick to Atlanta
Miami's 2nd round pick to Atlanta protected for selections 31-40 in 2017 and unprotected in 2018 [Atlanta-Miami, 6/27/2013]

2019 second round draft pick to Minnesota
Miami's 2019 2nd round pick to Minnesota (via Charlotte) [Charlotte-Miami, 6/26/2014; Charlotte-Minnesota, 2/10/2015]

2021 first round draft pick to Phoenix
Miami's 2021 1st round pick to Phoenix [Miami-New Orleans-Phoenix, 2/19/2015]

if they've got Riley and cap space, they always have a chance.

Not sure you ever think before posting but Chris Bosh is nowhere near the 3-pt threat Frye was.

And I highly doubt that Chris Bosh will hang out on the perimeter so much to do practically nothing but setting picks for Dragic.

Sunsfan88, I was gently sprinkling some displeasure towards the Heat. However, I never wish injury towards any player. I hope Chris Bosh has a full recovery.

Yea I think Riley is probably one of the best executives in sports right now. Reminds me a lot of how John Elway is handling business for the Broncos.

If Bosh is gone, that's a lot of money they can spend on FAs. Not to mention Wade is done after next year. They have a REAL Front Office, so they will be fine.

They'll still be a contender in the East with Dragic, Deng, Wade and if Whiteside continues to develop.

So Dragic will be used to lure players?

I agree, they do have a good FO.

I don't think Wade is done after next year. Way he's played this year tells me that he still 3-5 more years left in the tank. He can go as long as Kobe did imo.
They have no bench, though.

That is true unless Napier develops into one. I could see them maybe dumping Deng eventually and adding some bench scoring as well. They do still have their 1st rd pick next season which they can use as well.

Just looked at the standings and the Heat are getting all this love with 7 losses below .500 in the Eastern Conference. Wow.

They have been dealt with various injuries for most of the season. Only OKC has had more injuries among contending teams iirc.
