So now were already comparing him to hall of fame Point Guard in Jason Kidd who is probably the one exception in how many years????? Really??
Christ almighty, where in the hell did I compare him to Jason Kidd?

You said you cant make it in the nba as a point guard who cant shoot, and I shot you down with a solid example. Dont continue to express your bitterness for the draft by taking me out of context.

Thats like claiming the germans have never started a war, and when someone corrects you, you label them a nazi lover.

Dont be so obtuse.

Analysis: No one has a clue how good or bad this guy is going to be so stop fighting with each other.

You gave an example in Jason Kidd who is more like the exception not the rule. Bringing up one of the only PG in recent NBA history who overcame shooting woes to be any good....is shooting me down?!?!? Really??? Maybe I should have clarified and said 99% of PG who can't shoot never amount to anything in the NBA. Would that have been better?

And your Germany analogy is ridiculous and you call me obtuse? Clearly the majority of NBA PG's who never learn to shoot don't amount to much in the NBA. If I was going against the grain and saying that a PG who learns to shoot never amounts to much in the NBA.......now then your analogy would apply.

Look, I know the guy hasn't played a lick for us yet. However, I think it's safe to say that drafting a PG who can't shoot is by all probability not going to fill our need at backup PG. Especially, if he sits overseas this coming season.

PS. It wasn't a personal attack on you. Just responding to your example you threw out there which I took as you comparing him by example.

Rose will need to be a better shooter I think, he also needs to get stronger if he wants to be comparable to Kidd.

But I think he can become a more playmaking version of Wade.... which is still worthy of a No.1.

Mayo in my opinion can play the 1 and might be the "better" Steve Francis for the next decade... hopefully without the attitude.

Well, most people around here do think he's a Dick. You can see how I could make that mistake.

Of course I know his name. It's Robert Sarver. I also know the difference between Sunni Muslims and Shiite Muslims.

Dick Sarver, I love it. Done.

Just in case it hasn't been posted elsewhere, click the link, to see his workout with the Suns from a few days ago: mms://phxsuns.wmod.llnwd.net/a205/o2/workout_dragic_080622.wmv
Thx for the link.
I like this kid. I'd like to see more.
This kid is quick and his shot didn't look bad there. Good form, elevation etc...I suppose it's his range which has been questioned.

What a nerve-racking experience a pre-draft workout must be for those that are just "hoping" to get drafted at all.

The latest that Dragic will be in a Suns uniform is next summer. If he is stashed overseas, it will only be for one year. Count on that.

From what little video i've seen Dragic seems to be a nice compliment to Nash in terms of he's appears to be quicker, longer, taller, more explosive off the dribble, and more active defensively. It'd be a good idea to get him over here soon so Nash can teach him how to distribute and shoot the 3.

Seemed nervous. Looks like a classy kid. I like his speed and defense. Hopefully we get him soon so Nash can mentor him because Nash has an ability to make you better. If he turns out to be a bust, at least we tried.

Not a personal attack? Come on. You're and unhappy bitter fan right now and are doing what all your other brethren are doing, coming up with reason after reason to spew negativity. Most of which is baseless.

Shooting is not the primary need of a point guard on this team, even though he is young and has good form--and by the way, coachable. Sure, Jason Kidd never improved his shot, but many players have in the past. Are you that convinced he'll NEVER improve his shot? Now who's being obtuse?

Oh come on. Giving opinion is a far cry of spewing outright negativity. Also, I didn't make a personal attack on someone. Just countered an opinion. It wasn't until someone responded with name calling and making a stupid and insensitive analogy of "Hitlerism" that I responded in kind. If you call my original post personal then your didn't read it.

It's one thing just to be negative it's another to explain what your unhappy about. Talk about baseless. I don't see alot of people posting "down with the Suns" type threads. We all want to see the Suns succeed which drives passionate view on various topics.

No, I am convinced that the odds are stacked against him. Hardly obtuse. I am convinced that the Suns still need to acquire a legit back up PG because we drafted a guy that probably won't see a Suns uniform any time soon. There is nothing negative about evaluating what we have post draft (which is basically Lopez) and saying we need to do more and not rely on some guy we theoretically may or may not get any time soon....that just so happens can't shoot.

from watching all the footage i can find on him, the guy looks exactly like a younger tony parker the way he plays. he seems to have better mechanics on his shot than tp does... who knows, this guy could turn into a great shooter, he probably relied on his speed his whole life and never developed a jumpshot.

lastly, i think the suns will find a way to get him over this year...i think everyone realizes nashs window is closing, waiting another year is just too risky on the nash side of things IMO.

Thanks for the link. Things that are clear from the footage.

His shot is better than advertised. I assume its part of his game that he has been working on.

His speed is nothing special.

excellent, footwork, which can make up for speed.

Plays with a quiet confidence, a focus, that is necessary for pgs

Has more lift than I expected.

Kerr said this morning that his contract has no buyout clause for this year, so he is obligated to stay if Ceramica wants to keep him. He said that it CAN be negotiated though, and that is what they are trying to do.

Can you work out a deal with a Euro team to loan them a player? Could we send them Strawberry or Tucker for a year?

Dragic is 22. At age 22, TP was putting up far better numbers in the NBA than Dragic is in Slovenia. This kid does seem to have good awareness and instincts, so I'll give him a shot before ripping him too much. Watching footage of him is a little scary because many of the moves he made would never work in the NBA. Maybe he can adjust though.

like i said, he reminds me of a YOUNGER tony parker. im not comparing him and tony at the same ages although i did think dragic was a little younger.

and i dont understand how you say "many of the moves he made would never work in the NBA" how do you know? not saying they would but hes never played against nba talent. youve probably seen 10 minutes worth of footage on him, definitely not enough time to say wether his moves would work or not.

i have a friend that played at a 2A school and really wasnt THAT good. but when he went to wyoming and played against guys that were better than him it raised his game...every level he moved up he kept improving, after wyoming he went to the cba and was league mvp and then had a few stints in the nba.

we dont know this kids ceiling but the suns were more excited about this pick than they were with robin, did you see the smile on griff and kerrs faces when he hung up the phone.. they really feel this guys got something.

I like the pick, especially late in the second round, but Chap it would be very easy for us never to see him in a Phoenix Suns uniform. This isn't the old days European basketball, where for the most part minimal money in the NBA was much better. If this guy has a breakout year for Tau Ceramica it's very possible he could get offered a big contract over there. They have the money to give him.

And Steve Nash was doing very little. He struggled at Dallas that first year or two. Chauncy Billups was in the league a long time before he started to do something. Every player develops at his own rate.

That's the only reason I didn't like the pick. I wonder if we will EVER see him play for us. I still like a PG with the second pick, but I wish it was a guy that could have come in and contributed right away. If we get a FA PG, I'll be content with that. There's guys on other teams that will be on the trade block that are much better than what we've had as a back up PG, imho.

Joe, he flew half way around the world to have a private workout for the Suns. I think he really WANTS to be here. I think also that both he and his agent (Bill Duffy) believe he has what it takes to really make it in the NBA. He is coming, if not this year then next.

He can always go back to Europe.
