It's just sad that the NBA's assist leader won't make the all-star squad. Also, the NBA's FG% leader (Gortat), the blocks leader (McGee) and the steals leader (Conley) will not make it.

I'm sure it's happened a few times. Off the top of my head, the first guy that comes to mind is the point guard for the Bullets that later played for the Nets after the ABA folded. I know he led the league a couple of times and didn't play in the All Star game IIRC.

Edit: I found the guy's name, it was Kevin Porter. He actually led the league 4 times and had a stop in Detroit that I forgot about where he also led the league and apparently never made the all star team. Looking at a list of leaders, Johnny Moore for the Spurs looks to be another that led the league and missed the all star nod. I don't know how many of these guys led at the break though.
