Boston at NY today...I don't what what to expect. Boston can basically put them away with a win. But then again it's going to be crazy in NY, Melo sounds like he is on a mission, and NY was close to winning in Boston.

I don't care too much for Bean-town, but those cats know how to play that ugly playoff B-ball when they have to. Even if the Knicks get of to a good start and the fans are dancing in the stands, I can see the celtics throwing a big hissy fit or playing rez ball with the only intention being to disrupt the game.

If Amare does play, I see Boston going after him with the hard fouls. Some teams play chess, while others are still mastering the game of checkers.

That Lakers game last night reminded me of how the Spurs use to handle the Suns in the playoffs. The Hornets jumped out early and were playing a damn good game. Then the Lakers just halted everything.

I honestly think the score stayed 46-51 for about 6-7 minutes during the game. They weren't even playing basketball at one point, it was that dirty "I aint doing nothing wrong" B-ball that stops the other team's momentum.

Sometimes, it is how you have to win in the playoffs though. In a regular season game it wouldn't have gotten that serious, and the teams that are willing to go there are usually the victor.

If the game isn't going their way, they just throw a funky monkey wrench in the whole thing. Chris Paul is only one guy, and he is the only one on the Hornets that can play when the game gets ugly.
"Playoff basketball"...ugh.

I've been knee deep in football, who do we got?
Miami and Boston? I don't know who the underdog in that fight really is but I'm glad one will be eliminated for Chi-town. :)
What are the other match ups?

Chicago vs. Atlanta
Memphis vs. OKC
Mavs vs. Lakers
Wow if the Mavs beat the Lakers :)biglaugh:) that would be an upset.
Atlanta could be tough for Chi-town if Rose has to do it on his own, and I would call it an upset. Atlanta beat a team that was built around a center, Bulls are a lot different.

Memphis and OKC, OKC keeps getting tough match ups, but I kind of see these two teams as equals and both heading in the right direction as far as future goes. Memphis is going to be good, but we are talking Durant.

Lakers
Bulls
OKC

I think I am taking Boston>Miami but I aint very confident on it.

Lakers in 5

OKC ain't sweeping the Grizz. No way in hell.

Celtics maybe going 7. Lakers are too lazy to close out Dallas in 5 but might just catch a wild hair and want to destroy them.

Lakers-loss
Bulls-loss
OKC-loss
Boston-loss

I'm still pretty sure the Lakers and the Bulls will handle theirs, but OKC and Boston might be in trouble.

Team I'm most worried about is OKC Westbrook and his play as of late.
I think Boston will come out fired up after that last "game."

Pros for dallas: Phil Jackson is undefeated when he wins game 1. So if you want to beat him you need to win game 1. They also won game 1 in LA. I like dirk's comment after the game though. He said it's no big deal, NO beat them here and they pretty much lost control of the series after that.

Cons: the lakers aren't phased by the road like Portland or other teams in the west would be. The lakers will be just as tough to be in the AAC. So it is vital that the mavs win on the road.

It's kind of strange how the lakers and mavs numbers almost mirror each other from this season. road record and home record are almost exactly the same. both signs of solid veteran clubs.

Glad to see the Mavs stomping the Lakers... but this the Mavs we are talking about... I guess they should be about even money to win the series now.

exactly. this one is far from over. the lakers are the defending champs. luckily i think all of the dallas players have played long enough to know that they can't rest easy now. they have to take their game to another level in dallas to finish off the lakers.

it's funny with upsets how people go to the most predictable situation(like portland dallas) to pick their upset. a true upset is one no one sees coming. like if dallas beats LA. even I have my doubts about this one and I'm a mavs fan. most people gave dallas 0 chance. so that would be the def of a true upset.

I believe I picked Dallas as my sleeper team. IMO, if Dallas wins game 3, they will win the series because of the psychological impact. So Dallas really needs to focus on this game like it is game 7.

I would agree with you 100%. History tells us that dallas will win this series. However, dirk nowitzki and jason terry are both probably telling guys in their locker room that they have been on the winning and losing sides of 2-0, 0-2 comebacks. We all know the heat series. Some of you might recall the year phoenix put dallas out when nash(in his first year in phx) killed dallas with that 3 dagger in 6 games.

well the series prior to that dallas was down 0-2 against the mcgrady/ming/vangundy/john berry/ you get the point/ rockets. and those 2 losses were at home. then they went on the road and won the next 2...ultimately won the series in 7 games by like 40 pts in that game. Combine that with j-kidd, peja, carlisle etc. these guys are almost old enough to be grandparents. they probably have first count experiences of dramatic comebacks. given that this is the lakers I don't think they will let their guard down.

back to your point. the mavs have to treat game 3 like game 7. If they win game 3 NBA history tells us that the lakers have 0% chance of winning the series. If they win game 3 I think they will probably sweep the series. If they lose game 3 you give LA their confidence back and let them off the noose. which is not a good thing if you are a dallas maverick or fan. If you are the mavericks(current roster) you have to ask yourself. How many opportunities are you going to have to go 3-0 up at home on the defending champions that have clearly established themselves as the best team in the NBA? All of that with perhaps one of their key guys suspended and other guys bickering in the media? Probably never again given the age of most of these guys. this is a now or never type moment for dallas. that should be motiviation enough for them to win friday nigth.

Just about official Mavs taking out the Lakers. I wonder what that would have payed if I had bet 1,000 bucks. I would have never bet 1,000 bucks, even if I had a million. Props to Dallas, maybe they are worth hating.

I really do not consider the Mavs beating the Lakers an upset. the margin between the two teams is pretty small

Better yet, how much would you make if you bet 100 bucks that the Lakers win the next 4 games? I might do that.
