What are your overall thoughts on his assistants? Don't know a lot about most of them, but to me (an outsider), it seems like they are solid if not spectacular...
He's so far outside of common coaching trees, I can't really say with any certainty what to expect. The resumes are interesting. I like Chris Ball and Chris Thomsen. Chris Ball is one of the best defensive back
teachers in the country. It's what he was born to do. Thomsen is fascinating and had made my own personal watch list as one of the best small college coaches on the rise. If Graham did leave after some success, Thomsen is the natural guy to promote.
Bob Connelly is one of those guys I'm not sure about, but his resume made sense.
I think the jury is out on Norvell, but Graham's history with offensive coordinators buys him some time. His previous three coordinators were Major Applewhite, Gus Malzahn and Chad Morris. Norvell is a Malzahn protege. We'll see how that goes. Pittsburgh's offense wasn't stellar, but he was making a radical change in philosophy.
There's one guy still on the hook that would raise some eyebrows (in a good way), but without the o. coordinator position open, it's hard to tell if it could open. This person could also take a d. coordinator position. It's unlikely if he'd come under any other circumstances.
