Hill Likely To Choose Between Orlando, Detroit And Phoenix8th May, 2007 - 1:05 pmDetroit News -
Grant Hill will likely chose between the Pistons, Suns and Magic if he decides to postpone his retirement.

Hill will likely wait several weeks, if not months, to make a decision

just picked up on this. for an offseason aquisition for the LLE or something of that nature, i'd be all for it.

Which means he has had contact from the Suns front office. Nobody comes out and names teams unless teams have show interest. I think Grant Hill would be great coming off the bench. He is not a superstar anymore but can contribute.

eh, hopefully he retires or finishes out with the Pistons. I don't want his injury prone butt on our team.

Well he was healthy this season. As long as your paying him next to nothing and not depending on him at all, then anything he does for the team is just a bonus.

How has Grant Hill performed in the playoffs? Has he ever performed in the playoffs?

That's pretty exciting news. Even more exciting is that he is not going to SA, DAL, or LAL. I'm sure this is a stupid question, but he would start over James Jones, right? I think moving JR to the bench should be the Suns' primary goal this offseason. A good 3pt shooter would be preferable though.

Amare, KT
Marion, Diaw
Hill, JR
Bell, Barbs
Nash, Barbs

Add in a Marion for Durant trade scenario and Durant could just stand in the corner and bomb three's all day

he averaged 15/5.5/3.8 on 50% shooting against detroit. i'd say that's pretty decent.

I guess he was somewhat healthy playing in 64 or 65 games. Although his ankle still is a concern, obviously. I guess if we can get him on the cheap it is better than some of the alternatives we have on the roster or will need to replace on the roster.

Exactly, he can't be any worse then some of the dead weight we have on our roster now.

I just looked at Hill's stats and his assist:turnover ratio and rebounding are worse than I anticipated. However his midrange game is light years ahead of JR (JR shoots 37%!). If they can find a way to make Diaw starting more effective (unless KT is gone next year and there is no front court replacement), they could platoon JR and Hill off the bench for defense/3's and driving, respectively.

Older. Limited in minutes.

So what.

Yeah, it's no big deal at all because he actually averaged 30min/game this year. Knock him back to 15-20 (JR gets 18) and we are in business. Hill would be no saviour, but I'll take average over sucky for a role player.

I'd love to have him...he wouldn't be the focus of course, just bench help or whatever...a NICE bench player.

That would be a good thing for Phoenix.

For a veteran like Hill, you don't need a player to be your first choice. Off the bench, if he is healthy, he provides great bench scoring.

I still wish I didn't have to look back at a previous page to see who posted the above comment :(

Hill can shoot coming off the fast break, which is critical for D'Antoni, he isn't going to be scared of playing in big games like Unior, nor will he be stuck in mud like Rose.

Assuming he's a 10-15 min guy, at little cost, it's a no brainer.

Dude, give it a rest. I've been using your Quote feature most of the time now -- to my great annoyance, I might add -- but in this case I didn't think it was appropriate to call anyone out specifically.

big shrug.

The name has some cache among fans, but I can't see an old, broken down Grant Hill being a difference maker, good or bad. He's better fit than Jalen Rose, but I think he may end up being as much of a defensive liability.

Wow, I actually started a thread about going after Hill a week or two ago after watching one of Orlando's playoff games. I'm all for getting him on a vet. minimum or LLE deal. He might be a bust on the Suns like Rose, but from what I saw from him he still has game left.
