I like it. He played like a beast the last few games of the season. He really put his stamp on the position, I thought.

This was a sweet signing! Still, there are some speedy pass catching TEs in this draft. Wouldn't suck to nab one of those, too. I am happy that the Cards made a move today! :)

I would bet there will be more internal signings today and over the next few days.

Good deal.

Guess that takes us out of the running for OJ Howard, thankfully. I wouldve lost it if we wasted a pick on a TE we never use.

If we want to start throwing balls to TEs, Gresham is a darn good one to throw to. Proven player and team leader.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of money he was given. I'll guess 4yrs/$20 million/$12 mil guaranteed.

Have the numbers come out yet? I'm not sure we can judge if it was a good/bad signing until we see how much it was for.

First off, I love this signing. I don't know what the dollars are, but Keim has proven to be fiscally responsible over his tenure. I assume we overpaid somewhat to avoid risking his departure in an over-inflated free-agency period, and to reward his low salary last year.

Secondly, the last line in the nfl article states, "The 29-year-old veteran struggled as a blocker, but offers a big target for the quarterback that Arians wants in his tight ends."

What the heck is he talking about? BA has routinely said his TE's are primarily blockers and he doesn't care whether they can catch the ball or not. We didn't start throwing Gresham the ball until the end of the year, when we had just about run out of WR's... which the write himself even stated a few lines earlier.

Go Cards!!!

What if BASK go crazy and draft a guy like OJ, with the intention of running 2 TE's that can catch, to take the pressure off Fitz. Two pass catching TE's running the short to intermediate routes...Fitz running intermediate routes...Smoke and Nelson taking the top off the defense...and DJ the pressure relief valve out of the backfield.

I read that and thought the same as you. Sometimes these sports guys you wonder if they know what the hell they are talking about.

what if BA was a completely different person than we've seen the last 4 years and changed his entire offense to fit the fans draft crush

sure it could happen

From a symbolic sense this deal tells other vets who came in on prove it deals and took less money to stay, that if they perform well, they will be rewarded. Gresham is a very good blocker --- I don't get why writers say he struggled. David Johnson didn't have so many consecutive 100 yard (combined) games all on his own. Gresham is a battler. Plus he's got a beast mode.

They don't. Most posters on this site have more football sense & knowledge about the players than these so called pundits.

Per tha link 7million

Hate it !

If the money is 7m/yr...it is a stupid signing. We have other priorities and could have replaced his production easily.

Porbably a good PR signing in the locker room but he is an average blocker and a knucklehead at times.

So is it $7M per year or $7M total (1.75 per)?

$7M per year is what we pay Veldheer, so Im not happy if we gave him that much.
