Wait a tic--this was answered already, in tongue-in-cheek fashion. If I'd have known it was still open, I'd have answered for once :)

Yeah, but Steven was off his meds that day, so I think it's best if we just move on. :doi:

Good on you for knowing! I still love that movie despite all the flaws. I would love for Dune to get the Game of Thrones treatment on HBO or something.

Vague answers don't count. If you wanna answer, than just answer! You know, with the actual NAME of the movie! :)

LOL, I was waiting for that. It actually is the same actor who played Vigo in Ghostbusters II and also a henchman to Hans Gruber in Die Hard.

nice so I wasnt too far off! I was almost good at this game!

I can't remember who but some other movie used a creature that was picture perfect for the way Frank Herbert described the worms and then Phantasm stole the Gom Jabbar. By the time they finally made Dune they probably had to make several compromises to avoid looking like the copycat. Still, as you say, even with it's flaws it was a great movie. They made a mini-series out of it that was fairly well done but it lacked the charm of the movie IMO.

I thought elements of the movie were good but I really thought the mini-series was better because it gave you more context about the overall story.

Little known fact about filming Dune.

Looks like Richard Widmark from an old western.

Really? I don't see it. Maybe because it's so obvious to me. Here's a clue, not so much to the movie but to the profession of the character pictured.

I am just a poor boy though my story's seldom told

Really? The 60's must have been even harder on him than I thought. (I always think of George Carlin when I hear any version of that comment, he might not have been the first to say it but he was the funniest)

Yuck. Now I'll probably think of this every time I watch this movie and my wife has already added it to our schedule. We'll finish the 7 hour version of The Godfather Epic tonight, then we're committed to Midnight Run (my pick) and then it's back to her turn for Dune.

I remember a good quote from Midnight Run....

I got 2 words for you..
SHUT The F* up

You have two emotions, silence and rage.

Bogus metaphysical thought for the day....

There's only one emotion... Silence is merely a thin veil over intense fury.

Silence is a true friend who never betrays. I just made that up. Right after I changed my name to Confucius.
