Palmer has taken a step back, but he's not "finished" like some are indicating.

Palmer's intermediate passes have been very accurate when he isn't under duress. You can make a case that the line play has deteriorated since last season and that every single tight end and wide receiver not named Larry Fitzgerald or Jaron Brown has regressed exponentially. Darren Fells used to be sure handed and can't catch a football anymore. John Brown isn't healthy. JJ Nelson has been using an old pair of Bryant Johnson's gloves all season. Michael Floyd has rendered himself worthless in almost every category of being a wide receiver.

The solutions on offense are far more complicated than changing the starting QB, unless you're comfortable with a Drew Stanton/Derek Anderson type starting for you in 2017.

As strange as it sounds, this team isn't in need of a full rebuild to get back into contention. If it can keep the core together, the 2017 team is a contender.

We need better special teams players, and you find those later in the draft

It's too bad we can't bring in a couple of the QBs you guys like now that college regular season is over. They could get their try outs in now before bowl season starts.

Is Iupati safe? He has looked like hot garbage this year, and I think he is making a ton.

I sure hope the take some of the Calais Campbell savings and use it to resign Mauro, I really like his play.

Iupati is playing injured and I'm not sure he should be playing at all this season. He apparently came back too fast from an ankle injury and hasnt looked himself, at all.

Agree about Mauro, but he'll be a RFA, so retaining him will be easy.

If possible, we need to keep CC. He is still very, very good.

Someone who needs to go: Bucannon.

Hes been a liability. The problem with him is that although hes only 220 pounds, hes not fast. DWash was way faster than Bucannon, and much bigger.

And so Bucannon kind of serves no purpose. He cant keep up with TEs or RBs and he gets blown up in runs up the middle.

Needs:

Defense:
2 starting caliber ILB's. Minter is backup quality and depth. Bucannon is a safety. Cut the crap.
1 starting CB
Get Nkdemiche rolling or get another replacement for Campbell. Unless CC wants a one or two year deal. The 'doghouse' thing is a joke.

The defense isn't really the problem with this team. Just standard upgrades needed.

Also needing, for special teams:
1 punter. The Falcons rolled out some guy they found on his couch this week and he was banging 65 yarders.
Anyone capable of returning a kick of any type.
Anyone who feels like blocking a kick at some point. We used to be good at this.

On offense:

A #1 receiver. Everyone else is a 2 or 3 at this point.
A QBOF, and not a third day flyer guy.
A reliable interior to the OL. Mathis will retire. Iupati is fading. Let's see what Boehm can do now that the playoffs are gone.

(But BA won't work that way. He won't play Boehm or Nkdemiche all year just because he won't rock the boat, even if the boat is sinking.

Agree on all accounts. I'd like to think that Brandon Williams figures it out by next season so CB2 isn't as pressing of a need as it is this year.

My priorities for next season in order:

  1. ILB
  2. QBoF
  3. WR
  4. G
  5. CB
  6. P

Sadly, we were all calling for a backup T to either compete with DJ or have some experienced depth. That vet would be looking pretty good right now instead of rolling out Ulrick John or Wetzel as T.

For the third offseason in a row - we need an ILB or two.

I think you keep JJ and cut John Brown. Brown's health will sadly make him a continuing liability. I didn't like selecting JJ, but he can stretch the field and keep the defense honest. With a solid running game that makes him an asset. Iupati likely is at the end of his career. If they actually keep Palmer he should be cut. If they cut Palmer, hold Iupati because he can still run block. The Cards need to change for at least one year into a ball control offense. They can keep a back in to provide better pass protection. I know this is contrary to BA's philosophy, but he needs to adapt to the personnel he has and patiently rebuild the offense.

They should. He is part of the problem not the solution.
You do realize he's 4th in the league in yard per game passing at 293 and that's with complete trash at the WR position this year?

I think we should draft 2 ILBs for both Buc & Minter honestly.

We might want to re-do Campbell's salary, but to me he's the heart of the defense. And keep in mind the replacements for guys we let go. They probably won't play for nothing.

Palmer will be the QB in 2017, to me that's a given. The question is will Fitz be back. Floyd is gone for sure. Believe it or not someone will overpay him. After that I am not sure who else is gone. Probably Bethel, and some lower level players. As far as starters the only ones that will leave are the ones who get a better contract offer form another team.

We are not likely cutting any players still on their rookie contract until after next training camp, and then only if someone can beat them out. (Niklas, Nelson, Brown...)
