Have you taken a poll of the actual likely FA to confirm this will have no effect on where they might sign? No, neither have I, but those peoples opinions are all that really matter, oh and our own players too who made him a captain.

So it would seem since people are mentioning it, your'e it's "NO BIG DEAL" idea is not exactly holding water.

"The Cardinals are so dumb to pay Sam Bradford soooooo much money"

"I can believe the Cardinals wont pay all the money they could to Sam Bradford"

if Bradford has any compliant: its with his agent. The "active" thing was designed (I think) to pay him if he remains healthy. That the Cards could deactivate a healthy Bradford to avoid paying the game by game bonus feels like an oversight by the agent

We overpayed Bradford, based on his performance, to hold a ******* clipboard. I don't see how that'll impact how free agents look at us. They'll probably look at our poopy head coach and GM first.

It would seem to me that the NFL Fraternity believes that Sam Bradford has made a lot of money for doing very little in this league. He never performed like he should've, Mike McCoy or not. There were incentives in his contract, that if met he would've earned the extra 5 million, he didn't play well enough to be on the field to earn those incentives. Not sure how that makes the Cardinals look bad, but ok.

This. Anyone that says this makes the Cardinals look cheap is ignoring what happens in every other franchise.

You guys have made excellent points that are ENTIRELY irrelevant.

The people who ARE relevant are future free agents who notice this crap and want no part of it. Cause as "Smart" as you say it is, in today's business of the NFL I'd call it stupid.
This was my feeling when I posted the question. It's bush league.

Bush League? Come on. Like future FAs care that the Cardinals benched Bradford.

I tell you what will attract FAs next year. MONEY.

Oh and guess what the Cardinals have? Yep an extra $4M to spend on FAs next year!

Yeah of course it is.

Their play on the field and their record for all these years tell the tale that they are largely inept and do this kind of crap. They had made great strides getting rid of that label then go and do this and backslide right before they have mega cap space.

Don't be surprised when the new guys will not sign contracts like Bradford did or just won't come here at all.

Money is the great equalizer. Do you suppose future free agents will demand more or less guaranteed money if they consider this particular situation?

I agree the Cardinals were not wise in signing Bradford for far so much money. But I don't agree that he has never shown any talent as a QB. He was the NFL offensive player of the year in 2010 and set a record in 2016 for a single season completion record of 71.6 percent. He also had the misfortune of playing under Jeff Fisher. And of course had various injuries.

He was the offensive "rookie" of the year in 2010. Don't get something like that wrong or you'll get roasted. ;)

lol what a dumb thread, they are doing what any SMART organization does! You think the Pats wouldn’t do the exact same thing? Bradford can go duck himself he’s getting paid tons for doing nothing!

I'm not thinking Bradford now WAS the problem.

It's apparent that he was provided a terrible situation, no blocking, no WR seperation and awful play calling and yet no one goes back and says... Well you know maybe.... it wasn't you?

Nope he's a loser, benched, deactivated, guess we will see if he stays that way.

I would start to point the arrow of blame at Keim and Wilks, that's where I'd start putting some blame.

This seems to be the popular opinion and I'm not sure who saw my question the first time I asked it but are there actual examples of similar situations from around the league or from successful teams?

Regardless of the teams reputation of being cheap their ability to retain high dollar free agents and sign others speaks for itself.

We shall see.

They will have a ton of cap space true, so they will get some, but it's not just who we get, it's who we lose.

There should be as many pro bowls FA wise between signed and lost players to FA if a team was breaking even on that front. I'd be interested to see how many pro bowls our aquired FA have versus our lost FA.

By lost I'd call that had the player then lost them ultimately to FA, either drafted or again in FA but mostly drafted players leaving for FA.

It doesn't make any sense and people wonder why FA just either take us for free plane tickets and sign anywhere else or we keep self selecting losers.

What real baller is going to come here?

We made Emitt Smith cry because we were the last outpost if he'd had any other choice.....

We kinda have to operate like the rest of the NFL operates or better if we ever want to stop being a laughingstock of the league.

We are the laughingstock of the NFL because we gave Sam Bradford 20 million dollar to begin with.
