Well it's called a Roster bonus for a reason. You get it for being on the Roster. He's not on the roster for a reason.

Let's examine that closely in light of all current known facts.

His OC was just fired, his backup had 5 turnovers, and our offense can't block a two legged pig with a hip problem, our WR's can't get seperation, our best RB can't run against the worst run defense in the league and yet in spite of the fact it's obvious it wasn't just him or just McCoy we're going to stick with taking him off the active roster?

I'm not defending the guy but if you really follow along, their case against him is getting weaker by the play.

Obviously you slept through the first 3 games.

Sammie boy better save the $16MM he is getting as it will be his last paycheck from any NFL team as a player.

Boomer esiason was my first thought - he got the record for most passing yards ever in a game 522 - I believe and cards benched him to avoid the bonus - my problem is that Sam is in his prime with many years left - and staff and stupid fans are so zeolus about an unproven rookie qb - that they cut Sam off at the knees - truth is josh May never be as good as Sam had already been - wallow in it
Or was he benched because he followed up his 3 game run of wins w/ two bad performances: 26-40-280-1-2int in a 41-17 loss to Min 18-36-224- 0td- 2int in a 6-10 loss to Dallas? Don't let those MIN #'s fool you 130 of those yds and the TD came after the Cards were down 34-3 thanks in part to an INT and a Boomer Fumble. Don't forget he started the season 0-3 putting up Bradfordesque numbers 37-68-316-0Td-3ints. At least Bradford threw a couple TDs

I find it humorous that people believe that NFL players/agents aren't going to be concerned about an organization that will deactivate a player who is healthy (Bradford) and better than his competition (Glennon) because that player has under-performed, potentially due to the coaching.

If there is ONE thing I know about NFL players, it is that they are highly sensitive to their bank account. Irrationally so at times.

I think that he's gonna get another $16M from the Raiders.
I don't see how any QB would want to play for Gruden. For the most part, he's a QB killer.

But there's going to be quite a handful of QB's available in FA next year it seems.

Kurt Warner made 4 million a year when we went to the super bowl. Just for reference for anyone thinking Bradford is underpaid.
Doubtful, but if the actual number was four million it was due to a front loaded contract.....

The Arizona Cardinals rewarded quarterback Kurt Warner for his loyalty and efficiency during the 2005 season.

Warner signed a three-year, $18 million contract that should be worth between $20 million and $24 million should he perform as he did last season, ESPN.com's John Clayton reported Tuesday

are you kidding??? Bradford would actually be great for Gruden... do you not recall what Gruden did for Rich Gannon??

we should be calling and asking if Gruden will take Bradford and a fifth for Amari Cooper

Oakland is a great landing spot for Bradford. Good offensive line, solid and developing targets, and a coach who wants someone with physical skills he won’t have to teach.

It’s it’s the exact same pitch on Bradford that many people here swallowed.

Still think this means nothing in the grand scheme of things. If anything, it shows that the team will shell out big dollars for a player with a long history of serious injuries.

I do remember Gannon but he seems to be the outlier. I look to more recent examples and think that Gruden has made more a habit of grinding up QB's and burning them out. Conceptually, Bradford's accuracy and risk averseness fit in with what I imagine Gruden to want in a QB but his attitude and treatment of his QB's seems a poor match for the mild-mannered Bradford. I could be wrong and it may be a perfect match but it doesn't fit my impression of them.

That also doesn't mean that it might not happen. I think Carr will move on and I think Bradford will need a very special situation to get another chance to start. If nothing else, Gruden and the Raiders will be a special situation so it might be his only outlet for an opportunity to play. While I think everyone can agree that Bradford has show a real acumen and proclivity for signing big contracts, he has also shown an distinct inability to put himself in favorable playing situation. Which sounds like the Raiders.

What was to swallow? Bradford has physical skills and is smart. There isn't any misjudgment in those regards. I don't think anyone who has signed Bradford has been under any illusion about what his biggest risk factor is and that's health. I think where the Cardinals deserve criticism is blaming Bradford for something that wasn't his fault or something he could fully control and also not even getting something out of him when he's actually healthy.

Other teams have gotten burned by taking the risk on him staying healthy but the Cardinals didn't even get that. I suppose the argument is that they "HAD" to bench but that's not really true. They chose to bench him. Which might be understandable if he was clearly the problem but on top of wasting money for a player they obviously had no real vested interest, they were unaware of what was actually going on.

Oakland really doesn’t have anything of this anymore.

Bradford....
4 years playing for Jeff Fisher.
1 year playing for Chip Kelly
1 year and 2 games playing for Mike Zimmer
2 games playing for McCoy and Wilkes

That is QB Hell.
No. More like QB Purgatory. Hell would be being both a Brown and a Jet.

I’m a Sam fan and think he has been quite gracious to poopy card fans and front office - money money money money - money money money money - is all some talk about - so what - we had no QBs and had none beating down our door to play for Keim and Wilks - I mean get a grip -

Last time Sam was healthy and played for good team he kicked some major az - setting accuracy records - I expected him to take some time to get back to that level - after barely playing in the preseason. Some fans would piss on their on grave - it is very much likely Wilks, Keim and McCoy’s teams fault as much as sams-

They put him on the couch and it’s still his fault? I think he can still play better than at least half the nfl starters - and josh still may never come close to doing what Sam has already done - on many teams - learning and playing in a new offense the next freaking week after leaving philly for Vikings - I respect that - no matter how much others blame.
