... the Suns simply don't have a better option than Stoudemire at C, and that's where he'll be.
When he's not on the bench in foul trouble.

Or worse, when his health (as questionable as it is) becomes even more fragile mixing it up all season with true Centers.

Amare should never be our biggest man on the court. For his sake. For the team's sake. For the fans' sake.

Even a mediocre or role-playing Center alongside Amare helps make Amare more valuable, which makes that Center more valuable.

Think about it.

I'm not going to argue with you. Your patronizing tone would be tolerable if it were combined with any depth of understanding, but as it is not, your entire routine is simply insufferable.

I'm explaining what the Suns' philosophy is. That's it.

Typical Suns fans so desperate for a 'true 7 footer!!!' they fawn over any stiff. :bang: Its like we learned nothing from Jake Tsakilidis, Danny Schayes, Joe Kleine, Haracio Llamas, Dan Langhi, Jake Voshkul, etc. Just because a guy is tall don't mean he can play. Ill take a player who can play the game, even if its out of his 'natural' position over some stiff who can't play at all.

You only point out the poverty the Suns have suffered over the years at the center position. Actually you build a nice argument for those fans who would complain. The fans did not bring bring in the above mentioned players.

No my point is Haddadi is just a stiff like the rest of the guys I've mentioned. When you put size above everything else, as overly simply basketball fans quite often do, you end up with garbage on your team. Ill take a skilled 6'9'' Center like Alvan Adams who can actually play over a gigantic stiff like we continually see slogging up and down the floor, plaguing the league.

I'd much rather the Suns play guys out of positions (whether up or down in size) than play guys who are less skilled just because they fit the dictionary definition of what size you ought to be for that position.

Agree. Kurt Thomas is definitely what'd be good for us.

That Amare, a natural Power Forward, shouldn't be our biggest player on the court?

Tone? Understanding? Routine? How does that address the opinion I offered?

I guess that means you think we're in good shape with our PF as the biggest man in our lineup. 'Sorry, I disagree.

Jake Tsakalidis and Jake Voskuhl!

:)

Sometimes I feel sorry for the criticism Jake receives. He was selected as second round draft pick by Chicago and later traded to Phoenix for a second round draft pick and Soumalia Samake.

Jake was just a big guy, not overly gifted with talent, who played his heart out every night. Too much was expected of Jake. He was just a role player at best.

Cool post, Eric... you demonstrated to BC how to really be patronizing - if you're going to do something do it right!

As poor as our other options at C are, I'd wager that over half the time he's on the floor Amare will be guarding someone other than the opp's center. We will probably see strange matchups as Gentry tries everything he can to keep Amare from that task - because Amare hates it, for one thing, but also for the reasons BC stated. If the guy is no offensive threat - against us, that is - then Amare can loaf in his general vicinity with no problem. Otherwise, I expect to see Frye, Lopez and even Lou and Clark given a shot at it. Heck, Gentry may even try Griffen as he's only 11 pounds lighter than Amare.

As far as the subject of this thread goes, I'd be glad to have Haddadi on the roster - the guy can, at least, rebound. 120 total minutes is a miserable sample size but he got 47 rebounds in that time which comes to 19 per 48 minutes. Double Robin's per 48 number. (I'm surprised Robin's was that high (9.3), I expected it to be about a third of 19.) 4.8 blocks per 48 (Haddadi) isn't shabby either. I don't care if he's what you guys call a 'stiff', bring him on.

Haddadi was much better than Thabeet in summer league so I don't think Memphis would be in a rush to trade him.
