We went from 2 aces to 1 ace to no aces.. Ha Ha.. Uggghhhhh.. I feel sick.. Im figuring Webb never is his old self if he stays here..
I hope it is Skaggs and not Reckling. They compared Reckling to Doug Davis and I immediately vomited.
As of right now on everyone's list of Angels top prospects Reckling is ranked higher than Skaggs.
For everyone that thinks this trade was crap, you are part right. I personally think we should have kept Haren but management was at the point of no return. Everyone including Haren knew he was gone, it wasn't like ARZ wasn't going to trade him and only privately gauged teams interest, these rumors were very public.
Two reasons I am happy with this trade:
1. We finally get some lefties in our current rotation (Saunders) and farm system (all three prospects coming are LHP's).
2. Haren isn't going to the Yankees. They got arrogant and thought the would sucker us into taking a couple of scrubby minor leaguers for Haren, well suck on that.
This season is lost anyway, nice to see Haren get a shot with a contender, the guy was classy throughout this whole process, genuine nice guy. Next year's rotation could actually be quite nice:
1. Jarrod Parker
2. Edwin Jackson
3. Ian Kennedy
4. Joe Saunders
5. Barry Enright or Reckling

Keith Law of ESPN is reporting that Tyler Skaggs is the "player to be named later" in the Haren deal. Now, this deal does not seem so bad. Skaggs is a very good prospect who has big time potential. The Diamondbacks have liked him for some time.
Here's a link to his scouting video:

Rodriguez is a righty.
Understandable, but that is in large part because Reckling is a lot closer. Consider when the reports were written, the limited innings of evaluation they had on Skaggs, and the fact that he is straight out of high school with less than a year of pro ball. I guess it all depends on your risk appetite. I would rather have Skaggs with a higher ceiling.
I agree Skaggs ceiling is much higher than Reckling but I thought ARZ was looking for guys that were close to the majors, we may have to wait 2 or 3 years before Skaggs is ready, but this team is about 2 or 3 years away from contending so moot point.
