Interesting he was already slipping a bit because of concerns he has not real position and now this. he'll fall right out of the first round, would be very intriguing in the late 2nd as a return guy and situational offensive player.

He was too busy living it up in Percyland that he forgot about the drug test.

It will affect him, but there is no way he makes it to our pick in the second round regardless of the failed drug test.

Maybe but I was listening to an overnight radio show on Monday and they were talking about an article that surveyed personnel guys in the NFL and asked who was the biggest risk in this years draft. They named Harvin.

They sited four warning signs.
1. Coachability
2. No respect for authority
3. Drugs
4. Big Posse

Seems he doesn't like any type of hard coaching which goes hand-in-hand with the no respect for authority. His likes seem to be drugs and hanging out with thugs.

But...he's the kind of gamebreaker who helps teams win championships. I think the concerns about Harvin are a little overblown. I'll say this, if the Cardinals do trade Q and have two first rounders and Harvin is there at #31, it would be tough to pass him over. Our offense needs more speed and this kid can flat-out scoot and can score from any spot on the field. Plus, he can be a situational speed RB and third down RB.

I'd pass over him without even blinking. Failed drug test at the combine, huge posse, doesn't like to be coached? Sheesh, did PacMan even have these many concerns?

I agree with you on the talent for sure. Getting out of Florida and with the right organization could help change him. I just don't know what is truth and fiction on the gossip about him.

The world is full of people who have all the potential in the world but throw it away because of a lack of self-discipline. He's just another failure waiting to happen, why take the chance?

I agree. I would take him off my board with all of those concerns. Jerry Jones must be salivating.

If he ever was on the Cardinals board he's off now For sure. He's one joint away from a four game suspension. The only question is does he go to Oakland, Dallas, or Cincinnati. :D

If the other stuff about him is true yeah take him off your draft board.

At the time I posted this all I knew about Harvin was he'd tested positive for pot which is stupid(he knew he'd be tested) but I had no idea about the other stuff. On NFL network they were saying yesterday he was the guy sliding of the WR's because they were concerned he's not a real WR, played more RB than WR, and they weren't sure how well he caught the ball and ran routes.

If he's not coachable, then you take some big risk. As a return guy he has some of that Devin Hester type breakaway ability, but if he can't catch the ball, you don't want him handling punts.

It'll be interesting to watch if he was sliding out of the first round before this test I could easily see him sliding quite a bit further.

The other thing is with the apology to BJ Raji now saying he never really did test positive, you have to wonder how NFL teams are going to treat any new reports, instantly assume it's true, or be a bit skeptical?

I was driving the Harvin bandwagon -- but as one unnamed GM was quoted saying: "The Combine drug test is really an intelligence test".

He would be off my board ( assuming I had one that mattered)

i've never been big on harvin

the guy is way too in love with himself, loves to talk way too much, has injury concerns, runs poor routes relying mainly on athleticism, plays in an offense that can stretch it out in many ways and for a QB who can buy time for him to just naturally lose his guy

i don't think he has the discipline or smarts to make it in the NFL - he won't be able to just outrun people, he could double his work effort and still fall short (which is bad because in his mind he's working harder than he ever has, but it would still be short of NFL standards)

he's going to be challenged, going to be hit, going to lose games, going to have a QB who has to get the ball there in a hurry or get killed

i just don't see him making the transition - i think he's easily one of the more toxic name picks

i'm a much bigger fan of hakeem nicks - harvin ran his mouth all the way up to the Miami game and caught like one pass - nicks went to miami and caught 5 balls for 133 yards and a TD

both did well in their bowl games, but nicks did much better ..... nicks caught 6 or more balls in 6 of 13 games - harvin broke that barrier twice

big play ability?

in 3 years nicks averaged 17ypc, 13ypc & 18 ypc - harvin went 13, 15, 16

harvin had 13 TDs in 3 years - nicks caught 12 last year - nicks also matches him with long play ability

It's just a perception on my part, but the body language of of the Cardinal front office this year suggests they will be even more focused on the issue of character even more than ever.

Harvin just dropped out of my 1st round mock. I think he plummets like a stone - at least until one of the outlaw teams (like Cincy, Dallas or Oakland) gets a crack at him in round 2.

You must be smoking some of Harvins stuff if you think the Cards will draft Harvin.Probably the same stuff you smoke when you are on your Brian ST. Pierre fantasy high.

Hmm. Coming out of college in my long bygone days of peace, free love (a lie I soon learned) and war protest marches, even if I had had talent I'd have drug tested myself down to UFA. Never had a posse though.

Testing positive, or rumored drug usage, didn't seem to affect the careers of Warren Sapp or Randy Moss. It also didn't hurt Calvin Johnson's or Gaines Adams's draft stock.Of course, the other may have not have has the other red flags that seem to be associated with Harvin. You can't deny the guys talent though. He may be the biggest game breaker in the draft.
