You could tell from the beginning of the game that Cutler's heart was not in it.

I don't see Da Chi-town fans ever giving Cutler a chance now. Don't care what the MRI says, the fans want his head, that's how the Windy city rolls when it comes to their QBs.
Steve Bartman just moved up a notch in Chicago popularity. :p

Having watched him at Vandy, anyone questioning his toughness is an idiot.

Anyone taking medical advice from #90 doubly so.

It's not a question of toughness. It's a question of selfishness and the attitude to win. The guy hasn't won anything in college or the NFL and it shows. His body language and attitude are complete crap.

I'd rather be a complete idiot and support a player on MY team than be a complete idiot and support that complete idiot.

With that O line and those sorry assed excuses for receivers, can't say as I blame him, if that was the case.

Morning Update:

Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports Cutler tore his MCL during the loss to the Packers. The team is determining the grade of tear, which could help determine if the injury could heal naturally.

Ya whatever.. And DA had a concussion that kept him out the rest of the season.. Ya right.. They gonna say it can heal naturally and no surgery required..

Again, you know nothing about Cutler and his college situation at Vandy. He did better at Vandy than anyone could reasonably expect.

Yeah, torn MCL...man, that guy is a WUSS

Also, sure, any player would have said the right thing about their teammate, but it wasn't the normal covering that Urlacher did--that was heated and strong.

Do you think if Favre was told by a doctor to sit out a NFC championship game, he would? I highly doubt it. Cutler was riding the stationary bike and walking around. He could of played but instead, he quit on his team in the biggest game of the year. Philip Rivers had surgery the week before the AFC championship game in 2008 against the Patriots and played that game with a torn knee ligament. Some players want it more and some don't.

Also, of course his teammates are not going to bash him to the media. They will do it when the media is not around.

Here is where none of what you just said applies. Favre would have went back into the game after getting 3 syringes of "blue juice" and 5 horse tranquilizers. Phillip Rivers did with his tear as well. Cutler did not have that option as the "blue juice" cant be taken by a guy with Diabetes, either becuase it messes with his sugar levels or it has adverse reactions to the medication he has to take, forget which.

To me this whole thing stems from the Chicago media drumming up controversy, because of the championship loss to their arch-rival.

The fans have gotten spoiled by the success' by the Bulls and recently the Black Hawks and are buying in.

Until they say his knee was ok and he just quit I'll assume he was hurt.

Having partially torn my patellar tendon and had my coach in HS tell me he thought I was acting I've been in the situation where you have an injury that's not readily apparent but is a real injury.

Of course the same coach yelled at a teammate of mine until he realized his fake injury was a fractured finger where the bone was sticking out of the skin.

People are used to the idea that all injuries are really obvious and just assume a guy is faking it. Given Cutler's history, it's not like Vandy was loaded when he was there, I see no reason to assume he quit.

I'm not a Cutler fan, but until I hear there was no injury I'm assuming there was.

It sounds like Cutler has a legitimate excuse for sitting out. Nevertheless an NFC championship to rabid fans is what Joe Biden would call a Big (something) Deal. The price of being a franchise QB and all the money that comes with it, is the fans are going to expect unreasonable levels of heroism or stupidity, whatever you want to call it.

I don't ever remember a season where sideline demeanor has ever created so many stories. Of course DA's embarrassing meltdown, the tripping incident, Sanchez booger thing yesterday, and now Cutler's indifference. Regardless of whether its fair or not, appearances matter. The camera is always on and if you don't appear like you are one hundred percent serious and engaged for all three-four hours of the game, its going to come back on you.

You mean the same OL an receivers that Haleb Canie used to drive the length of the field twice?

You can tear your ACL and ride a stationary bike, in fact many people do just that while waiting for swelling to go down before surgery. They're told to do that to strengthen the leg before the surgery. For whatever reason bike doesn't take a ton of range of motion and doesn't increase the risk of further injury.

I know a girl who tore her ACL in college and went months without surgery, she said every now and then it would buckle going up or down stairs but as long as she didn't do anything lateral, it was manageable.

Cutler could have torn his MCL and still been able to ride a bike, doesn't mean he was able to continue playing.

Ultimately I see this as a case of a young QB struggling in his second playoff game.

As in what Matt Ryan always does in the playoffs.

The guy was hurt. Done. Finito.

This is a non-issue if his line could block a lick.

If Jay Cutler were to be available, I would hope the Cardinals would look into him.

It's not coming from just the media. As soon as Cutler went out my brother and my dad (both Bears' fans) texted me saying "he'd better be in surgery come Monday."

There is legitimate angst from the fans; it's not a media construct.

Both

Even the torn ligament alone has an adverse effect on the insulin level.

Jack Youngblood played DE in two playoff games and a Super Bowl on a broken leg. If it were me, I would have put a brace on and at least tried to play.

Oh well. I think Cutler and Urlacher are both douches anyway. Glad they lost.
