Are we really dooming over Ojulari?

I never thought much of him. This isn't going to change our season.
I mean he seemed to be the only defensive player that’s been receiving strong positive comments. Am I wrong? Losing the guy receiving raves at a position of need on the weaker squad seems, well, bad.

So a player you said was a bust gets hurt and the season is over?
You're lack of reading comprehension skills is astounding. Hit the reset button and try again.

Also, you said the other day you weren't trying to pick a fight, but you come to a dark side thread to do what now? lol

It's not like we're arguing eye tests here. Show me how he's statistically above average. I'll wait.
Not really. You add “FACT!” to your opinion. No one else does.

Responded in another thread on the same thing. Why should I should that he is Above average when that is not the discussion?

The discussion is about fair salary and Looking at the market it certainly seems like the contract is fair to his rating

i think Monti has done a good overall -- but:

its kind of a shock to realize that with Ojulari down (an unproven player to start) -- you are down to Zaven, Gardeck and Xavier Thomas on the edge

I suppose most of the NFL has a roster where one ACL to a certain starter puts them in a similar situation, but stilll....

but an edge guy who was the talent equivalent of Sean Murphy-Bunting would have been nice. Maybe someone like that is still around

I just searched the thread and you're the first one to bring up FACT, so...

lmao

Whatever expectations you had of the team prior to BJ’s injury shouldn’t have changed after BJ’s injury.
Slight disagreement from me because of how little I think of the players behind Ojulari but overall, yes.

Beej was unlikely to exert a gravitational pull on the defense where his presence will be missed. Ideally he'd have been as effective a pass rush specialist as Gardeck and as effective in non-pass rushing roles as Zaven Collins.

Can Victor Dimukeje, Mack Wilson, Darius Robinson, and Xavier Thomas combine for, like, 11 sacks? That's probably what you need.

Maybe. I am trying not to have any scorching takes until I see more.

You're not going to see any more of B.J. Ojulari this season, that's for sure.

Four sacks in two seasons, and people will give him 2025 to round back into shape following the injury. Oof.
He gets Josh Jones treatment from me moving forward. He isn't a contributor until he is. I hope he can recover and produce to his draft position but would not make moves based on him being a contributor with the franchise.

EDIT: changed from Justin Jones to Josh Jones.

Jury was out on him, yes. I had my fears but had no choice but to hope he came good. Now, he's a bust until proven otherwise.

If you actually think that was an attempt at picking a fight, you’ve lived a very blessed life, my friend. I asked a question.

When this team looks at finally address ingthe edge room in 2025 (or I guess IF they actually decide to address the position), BJ shouldn’t be an any kind of factor. At this point he’s damaged goods, that didn’t really even flash all the much while he could actually get on the field in his first two years. Depending on him moving forward shouldn’t be part of the equation until he’s proven himself on the field.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Monti give the position the Justin Jones treatment in 2025. Gardeck will be a free agent and entering his Age 31 season.

The 2025 Free Agent class looks pretty old right now, but maybe the Cards throw some money at someone like Darrell Taylor (SEA). Josh Uche (NE) was sitting out there this offseason and would have helped bolster this group.

If we end up middle of the pack in the 2025 draft we probably are not getting a blue chip edge player.
