Texans | Henson Has One Team Interested - from www.KFFL.com
Wed, 18 Feb 2004 10:56:02 -0800

Carlton Thompson, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly said one team has agreed to the Texans' parameters for a possible trade for QB Drew Henson. Casserly and Tom Condon, Henson's agent, are scheduled to meet with several teams at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis this week, and more teams are expected to accept the Texans' trade parameters as well. Casserly declined to identify the team that has already accepted the terms. Henson will be allowed to visit with the team that has met the Texans' initial asking price, but it's uncertain when that will take place. Teams looking to acquire Henson must first agree to the trade parameters.

I think this seems to increase the odds that Henson WILL NOT enter the draft, but will be traded and signed prior to it.

Well, I guess Casserly can't keep a secret long...

From a recent article:

"In addition, the Houston Texans hold Henson's NFL rights, and the source said Houston's asking price - a third-round draft pick in 2005 that would be elevated to a first-round selection based on Henson's playing time in 2004 - is too steep for a player who started only eight games for Michigan in 2000 and hasn't played football since.

The source also said the financial package Henson and agent Tom Condon are seeking - Henson is hoping to recoup the $12 million he left on the table when he walked away from baseball - is unreasonable"

Ok.... If Miami makes this trade..... would Griese or Fiedler be out???? If either are gone.... probably Fiedler....would he be a suitable veteran back-up??? Personally, I wouldn't mind having him as the veteran back-up to Josh

My guess would be Griese would be out, didn't he just sign a 1 year deal last year? I can't recall, but Miami would definately keep Fiedler.

With that said, if they let him go, I also wouldn't hate to see him backing up McCown if that's the direction we decide to go. Could be worse. We can't go into the season with Parsons at #2 and no decent veteran QB.
