How did the Ewoks become Goonies? I could see if you said that about LOTR, since one of the stars was a goonie...

ROFLMAO

If I were you guys, I would be very interested in what people have to say about their first viewing of Star Wars. Whenever I talk to people who watch X-Files for the first time, it brings back a lot of memories and it's fun to re-hash that. :)

This thread is great!

Glad to hear you finally got to watch these movies Kate. You've taken your first step into a larger world.

Just one point about the tractor beam thing. Of course it was easy he is a Jedi. :)

The only one he couldn't hide from was Darth Vader. Vader knew he was there but the Empire chose to let him disable the tractor and follow the ship to the Rebel base.

Yea if you thought the Ewoks were annoying there is much more cutsie annoying stuff in the prequels.

The best part is, for a novice viewer, you have pretty much the same view on C3PO as the rest of us.

::SPOLIER::

To me, the most damning thing about Darth Vader wasn't that he turned to the Dark Side nor was it that he betrayed his Jedi brethren nor was it that he killed millions of people nor was it that he attempted to destroy half the galaxy nor was it that he was among the worst father's in world history, trying to destroy his son and not even knowing about his daughter nor was it that he became the essence of pure evil.

All of those, I can forgive. But to create a robot like C3PO, and to give him such a whiny, wimpy personality? Unforgivable.

OK, just finished watching Episode I. Spoilers ahead to those who haven't seen this yet (of the 4 left in the world).

First off, BIM, I FINALLY UNDERSTAND WHY YOU HATE JAR JAR. For the love of God I wanted to shoot that creature. He's even worse than CP30 (the gold guy :p )

Speaking of the CP30, I thought it was cool that we got to see where he began. And of course, my man, R2D2!!! He rocks!!!!!!!!!

I liked seeing a young Obiwan - he's awesome although he didn't really get to say or do much (with the exception of the fight).

Speaking of the fight, WOW Darth Maul was scary! He's pretty bad ass looking - I was sad when he killed that other Master Jedi guy. What's his name? I did enjoy their fight... good stuff.

Anyway, the little Annakin did pretty well, kinda laughed when he blew up that space ship on "chance" but whatev.

I did like how Yoda was hesitant to make Annakin a Jedi... nice foreshadowing!

Natlie Portman did a good job...

I am gonna go watch Episode II now. I hope we get to see more of R2 and how Luke got to be born (I'm guessing they'll shed some kind of light on that).

Ta ta for now.

Just finished Episode II - spoilers ahead for those who haven't seen this yet...

I liked it - I think I liked it better than Episode 1. A grown up Annakin was weird to see... especially cuz I knew he'd turn bad. I really really really enjoyed the kissing between him and Natalie Portman! :) They had some intense stares!!

The Yoda fight with that Count Dooku guy was sweet! I liked the Coliseum scene, too!

Actually, now that I think about it, I really did enjoy Annakin. He was intense and you could see where he could go to the dark side - lots of emotions filled with that boy. It was cool to see his hometown, where Luke grows up - good stuff!

I am kind of excited about Episode III - BUt I have to wait until May... just like all of you!

Is Natalie Portman gonna be in that one, too?

I just dont get into these new ones. Dunno why. Heck I dont even watch the old ones anymore either. Maybe its bcuz I have a zero attention span for sci-fi movies. But anyway I have watched parts of the last 2 you just seen kate. Kinda hard to see better graphics for the events that preclude the ones I seen as a kid.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the graphics... I bet it's weird to watch them starting with Episode 1. It's kind of cool how they had other storylines going on, but we still get to see the main characters, except it's how they used to be in the past.

I'm diggin Annikan's development thus far :D

Yay! How exciting. I want more lovey dovey scenes with her and Mr. Vader

Eh, Hayden Christiansen was WAY too weak. I listened to the book on CD before I saw the movie, and thought the character was a troubled young soul walking down the wrong path. I watched the movie and saw a whiney little punk that sounded like he wanted to take his ball and go home. I don't expect much more this time around.

LOL that's actually a really good description of him haha.

I guess I just enjoyed the passion behind him... I can see why he chose the dark side... And he was pretty cute and him and Natalie Portman just looked so cute together, hee hee! :)

OT: Darth Vader.

Just something about his presence on the screen.

The power he wields, the voice, the breathing...

:jedi:

Prequels: Darth Maul.

Awesome looking villain with great battle moves...killed too soon! :bang:

:jedi:

Of course, being a SW geek, I like almost all the characters (Jar Jar does not exist...Jar Jar does not exist).

I was always drawn to the dark side...Vader, Boba Fett, Stormtroopers, Imperial Guards, etc.

Loved the jawas and tusken raiders, especially as a kid seeing them for the first time.

Sir Alec Guinness was great as Obi-wan. It's too bad he grew to resent the role.

This thread is great. It reminds me of the movie Awakenings. Like Kate has been in a coma for 30 years and is just getting caught up to date.;)

Actually it was really fun to see your reactions to each part of the story. Kind of like the Cliff Notes of BIM's life.
