From this link it looks like Amare would rather play in MIA. That is probably why Riley is not offering Beasley contrary to early reports. He is probably offering O'Neal and a draft pick, whereas the Suns are looking for a young PF in a deal for Amare and CLE is willing to deal Hickson. Again I think Riley is just going to see if that package is good enough for Amare, if not Jamison or Murphy would be back up options.

This is what breeds all the discontent and anger. The internet has a created a monster when it comes to the whole trade process. The truth is none of us know what has been offered or who has even talked about a trade.

A players trade value is effected by so many different variables it makes it next to impossible for us to accurately assess his value.

Wow, if this goes down there will be plenty of furious Suns fans. Nothing like Kerr completing his destruction by helping out his ol Buddy Danny Ferry ala Kevin McHale gifting KG to the Celtics. Sarver and Kerr are the worst thing that have ever happened to this franchise.

I wouldn't think the Cavs could possibly make LeBron the highest paid player in the NBA, AND be the team that can offer Amare the "most money" as well...

Yes, that's one of the basic facts of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement. See cbafaq.com.

But reports that the five-time All-Star Stoudemire could be headed to Cleveland have led other clubs to spice up their offers to Phoenix, according to sources.

The ball is now in Phoenix's court.

......

While Stoudemire has good relationships with LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal, some close to Stoudemire believe Miami -- where he lives during the summer -- is his first choice.

GOOD. I'm not particularly against trading Amare. But not for, essentially, Hickson straight up. (I actually like Hickson. But that is an awful trade.) I'd rather just take my chances and let him walk if it comes to it, as opposed to accepting an awful trade.

If this deal happens I hope the Suns keep Ilgauskas for the entire season. I keep reading that the Suns will release Ilgauskas and he will rejoin the Cavs in 30 days. Screw the Cavs, let Ilgauskas sit on the end of the bench and rot.

Hickson isn't even worth a #20 pick in my opinion.

He is a 6'9 PF, can't defend, low bball IQ, can't shoot, not really good rebounder..

But that doesn't provide any "financial flexibility" for the Suns. I've been defending the Suns for a few years now. Their cap situation has been a mess, so some things needed to be done. But if I hear "financial flexibility" one more time I'm going to go nuts.

If this trade goes through the Suns have essentially traded Amare and Shaq for JJ Hickson.

Releasing him doesn't save the Suns any money. All it does is save a roster spot. They have to pay his salary until the end of the season regardless. Why help out the Cavs.

I am hoping in the end cooler heads prevail and we can work out this three way...

Philly gets

Jason Richardson 13.3 million 2 years
Michael Beasley 4.6 million 2 years
Daequan Cook 1.3 million 2 years

Phoenix gets

Andre Iguodala 12.2 million 5 years
Quentin Richardson 8.7 million 1 year
Maurice Speights 1.6 million 2 years

Miami gets

Royal Ivey 1 million 1 year
Lou Admundson 875k 1 year
Amare Stoudemire 16.3 million 2 years
Primo Brezec 825K 1 year

With what you know everyone wants out of the deal, how does that NOT make sense?

No, they will have traded them for money.
If this trade happens along with all the sold picks Sarver will have essentially liquidated ALL of the Suns assets for Cash.

Isn't this what bankers do when they buy companies?

Well this is good news...looks like enough other teams want Amare enough that a bidding war may develop. Maybe the Suns can sit tight until the deadline and better offers will appear.

The Iguodala deal isn't the best IMO, but it is better than Hickson....

it's just hard for me to imagine that with steve nash on the roster that the suns would be willing to unload amare to the cavs for this deal. even a fantasy football commissioner would overule this trade lol.
again we're talking about the phoenix suns a proud franchise....not the grizzlies...or t-wolves....hence my texas rangers comments earlier.

I think that they have to be posturing here to make it known to other teams that they are willing to deal amare no matter what. this could heat up some interest from the other notable teams and stir some interest from teams that may not have considered amare an option.

This trade is as imbalanced and ridiculous as the gasol trade for the takers.

yes...and the suns>grizzlies which would make this deal very surprising and would slap a collective fanbase and team in the face if it went through.

Like I said before, I was afraid that if the Suns chose to trade Amare, they would pick the deal that saves them the most money, not the deal that returns the most talent/picks. So it's not even about Kerr's ability to get a good deal. If Sarver tells Kerr "find me a deal from which I can profit financially the most" then Kerr is doing his job splendidly. But teams know that too, so why would they offer anything more?

JJ Hickson is not a very valuable asset. I don't see him having much potential in this league. And even if the Cavs were to throw in first round picks, they would be late picks and not worth that much.

Are we really going to give the Cavs Amare for nothing, after we've already given them Shaq for nothing? If so, I nominate their GM as GM of the year.

if we make this deal and buy out Ilgauskas, we will be then paying four players to play for other teams this season. That must be some kind of a record.

I think CLEVELAND is getting screwed here......why hasn't Sarver/Kerr thrown in a couple future #1's ? Thats probably the hold up. :bang:

Yes, that's the Suns mode of operation. I'm starting to feel Kerr is trying to strip the Suns of extra salary so Sarver can sell the franchise for the most profit.

Marc Gasol is better than anything the Suns are reportedly getting.

yea he is now... do you not remember how much of a gigantic rip off everyone thought that trade was 2 years ago? Doesnt seem so lopsided now does it?

He was actually tearing up the Spanish league at the time of the trade. I'd rate him as a higher prospect then given his size and skill set than I would Hickson now.

He can opt out of his contract at the end of the season, he can't stop a trade. Besides the whole point of getting Amare is to prevent James from leaving. If the Cavs land Amare they will pay him as long as James stays.

Amare will play for whoever offers him the most money.

James wants around 40M per. They can't sign him and stoudemire. stoudemire would be insurance if James bolts for NY.
