James wants around 40M per. They can't sign him and stoudemire. stoudemire would be insurance if James bolts for NY.

Nobody is getting $40M per year. The most he can get is $20M-$23M, depending on several different factors.

He was actually tearing up the Spanish league at the time of the trade. I'd rate him as a higher prospect then given his size and skill set than I would Hickson now.

Have you really even watched hickson play to pass judgment on the guy? I feel like everyone thats not a cavs fans just bashs the kid, but honestly how many of these arm chair GMs have watched him play?
When I go to cavs boards they rave about his improvement and wouldnt want him to be dealt unless it brings in someone LIKE amare.

Most of them dont want to trade him for jamison.

I like JJ Hickson. The problem is that I'd rather have Amare than him. If the choice is that simple (and with the proposed trade, it is), then I'd pick Amare every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Would you rather have a Ferrari with $5,000 a month payments or a new Accord that's paid for? Something tells me this is the way the Suns see it.

They can pay him what they want. I've heard that NY will offer upwards of 40M in contract and endorsments package, like Jordan got from The Bulls.

The team can't offer that but there has been that report about Nike giving him $100 million if he plays in NY.

They technicaly can't, but they do ensure the endorsments for the team, city, merchandise and corporate endorsments of varying types. Big names, in Big markets. That's the NBA. Allmost all of pro sports really.

If the NBA creates a hard cap this will be an even bigger problem.

Please bro. I have seen Hickson play. All he does is set screens and when they double James he gets the dish and finishes. He is about the same as Amare on defense. He has alot of potential but not near the skills of Amare.

Bro. please, I have seen a handfull of videos/games of hickson and I can already tell you he has a better back to the basket footwork than amare so dont try and tell me thats all he does.

You really should learn a thing or two about the CBA before talking about what kinds of salaries teams can offer.

If this trade goes through the Suns have essentially traded Amare and Shaq for JJ Hickson.

Actually, it would be even worse. They would have traded Amare and Marion for JJ Hickson and cash.

Personally, I wouldn't be totally shocked if it happend, but I reall ythink it's posturing to get better offers leading up to the deadline. Kerr knows he could screw the team for a decade if he messes up an Amare trade. If nothing good shows up, I think they will keep him and figure it out in the summer.

Actually, that's a really good analogy.

Hickson has potential, but a long way to go. If they can teach him a jump shot and he stays in good shape, he could be a poor-man's Amare. I'm just not sure he's a real pick-n-roll player, which is the Sun's bread n butter.

Anyone know if Beasley can play the PnR or pick-n-pop?

If this trade goes through.....how bad has the Front Office of the Suns gone from one of the most respected under Jerry to the laughing stock of the NBA???

Yes the Cavs fans I'm sure would never overrate him. I have seen him play and everything about him says journeyman role player. This is the same guy the Suns asked for in the Shaq trade before desperation got the better of them and they can't get any better for Amare?

What does hickson in the shaq trade have to do with anything? Just because we asked for it doesnt mean he was available . Thats like if we took on brands contract and philly asked for dragic. Yea ok, nice try but no thanks. now would you like us to take brands contract or not?

Im sure theres plenty of cavs fans that overrate them but Id bet they know a heck of alot more about his strenghts and weaknesses than 95% the armchair GMs. Believe it or not Im pretty capable of figuring out whos the hickson fanboys and people that are realistic about his potential.

I also forgot hes only 21, I guess that leaves minimal room for improvement as well.
