The Sultana softball team beat Apple Valley 15-5 on Tuesday, forcing a three-way tie atop the Mojave River League standings.
Sultana got five home runs from Aaliyah Huizar, Avery Rodriguez, Camilla Casillas, Isabel Avalos, and Maricruz Venegas.
Sultana jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a three-run home run from Venegas and Viviana Polanco scoring on a ground out by Jadielyn Rodriguez.
Apple Valley cut the lead in half on a two-run home run from H Macias. But Sultana got those two runs back on a home run from Avery Rodriguez in the top of the second inning.
Apple Valley chipped away in the bottom of the third with run-scoring singles from Liza Lozano and Ireland Jenkins, pulling within two runs. It was all Sultana from there. Sultana scored runs in the fourth and fifth, two in the sixth, and five in the seventh.
Savannah Vanderpool led the way in the circle for Sultana with 12 strikeouts, allowing five runs on eight hits over seven innings.
Rodriguez ended 4 for 5 with three RBIs and four runs, and Venegas went 4 for 5 with three RBIs and two runs.

For Apple Valley, Lozano ended 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run, and Madison Buzzard went 2 for 2 with an RBI. Through the first round of league play, Sultana, Apple Valley, and Oak Hills all sit with 4-1 records, with each having five games left in the season.
Apple Valley hosts Oak Hills on Thursday afternoon, while Sultana is also home against Burroughs. The teams will square off again at Sultana on May 1 to wrap up the MRL slate of games.
At Phelan, the Sultans improved to 10-0 in league action as Alex Gamez and Brayden Booth both smacked home runs. Gamez went 2 for 3 with a home run, three RBIs, and two runs, and Booth went 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs. Isac Gamez went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs, and Eric Ruiz went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a stolen base.
At Hesperia, Christopher Alvarez struck out 11 batters and allowed three earned runs on seven hits over seven innings to lead the Sun Devils. Beau Lloyd went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs. For Hesperia, Josh Flores went 2 for 3 with a home run, four RBIs, and a run; Carlos Ramirez went 3 for 4 with a run; and Jacob Castillo went 2 for 3 and two stolen bases.
At Oak Hills, Webster tossed a complete game, striking out nine batters and allowing one run on four hits to lead the Bulldogs. Webster also scored the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning on a grounder hit by Patrick Dufer.
At Oro Grande, Adrian Jorge Jr. drove in four runs to lead the offense for the Silver Knights. Jorge went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, a run and two stolen bases; Trent Bourgeois went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, two runs and a stolen base; and Cayman Pluma went 2 for 3 with a RBI and three runs.
At Hesperia, Gary Sanchez struck out five batters and allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings to lead the Patriots. Nathaniel Renner went 1 for 3 with a RBI, a run, and a stolen base.
At Hesperia, Carsyn Leon struck out 11 batters and allowed two earned runs on seven hits over seven innings. Kaylin Steede went 2 for 3 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs; Kayla Cazarez went 2 for 2 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs; Anaya Tula went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs; Jade Whitman went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run.
At Phelan, Sam Conan went 3 for 4 with a home run and struck out six batters over seven innings. Jamie Motley hit a three-run home run; Wendy Arauz went 3 for 4 with two RBIs; Camryn Plein went 3 for 3 with an RBI; and Autumn Pratt went 2 for 3 with two runs.
