I saw today as a sign of improvement in many ways, was bummed about the loss but not too worried about it. Came on here tonight for a moment before I crash out and see everyone doom and glooming, firing everyone and moving on to next year.

The Vikings are good. Record or not, i knew at any moment we could be blown out. The defense did sputter at the end and needs work but I wont lay it all on them. My main gripe with that was the constant slant routes and us doing nothing about it. The d is strong in some areas and thin in others, its still good enough to keep us in games.

My concern is offense and its mostly on the QB. I thought today was the best offensive effort we had in weeks.

Special teams and larod are awesome, our punt coverage was a little shotty at time but i think it had more to do with blocking and field position causing line drive punts.

anyway i dont have much more to say I didnt come on here to even post just wanted to put up a positive thread within all the chaos. I think we are improving in our worst areas and still have a chance to win a playoff game if we can put it together. Also, a year of free agency and draft could easily put us back to dominating the division.

props to joey porter for showing up, kerry rhodes for big plays even tho he was stripped. Fitz with the big game, would be bigger if DA could aim. LaRod is awesome.

The problem is that people who don't normally show up (besides Larod) showed up. The people who normally show up, were nowhere to be found. Who shows up next week?

It gets to the point where there is no pride, and nothing left to play for. This team's only consistency is poor QB play. Kenny W has fooled us all.

You say you saw signs of improvement, yet you only mention the special teams playing well. I agree Porter had some nice plays, as did Kerry. That made me happy.

Not trying to rain on your parade, really I'm not. And, yeah, I guess DA played better than he usually does, which isn't saying much. Just wanting to hear more about the improvements.

I thought t he D was good in the last quarter and the offense actually looked average most the day, how s that not improvement? Todays cardinals woulda kicked the seahawks ass alot better than the one who actually showed in seattle.

Todays team woulda kicked tampa bays ass too.

You thought the D was good in the last quarter? You have some strange expectations. Not many could be upbeat after blowing a 14 point lead with 5 minutes to play. I was and am sick about it.

Disagree. The defense gave up this game in the 4th, though that might have had to do with play calling.

And pardon me if I don't celebrate the offense looking average as an improvement.

What? Are you kidding?? How do you define good? We coughed up a 14 point lead in the last quarter! TOP was 5:36 for us, 9:24 for the Vikes! Our defense folded like a house of cards... The last quarter was arguably their worst quarter of the game!

Every team in the league averages more than 225 yards per game, which is what the offense gained today. Every defense in the league averages at least 100 fewer yards given up per game than the 507 the D gave up today. It's tough to take too many positives out of a performance like that.

it was not the worst game of the year, but everyone is hating on it like we are abysmal. We can still win the west, its not saying much but its enough for me.

Win the west and rebound next year with some additions to the coaching staff and maybe a QB who can throw a football.

Agreed.

I think the team played very well yesterday.

Derek Anderson played as well as he can. Unfortunately, today we needed either him to play better than he is, or Kerry Rhodes to not fumble a ball out of bounds (it happens, just sayin' it would have won the game for us).

Anderson had a couple chances to win this game, at a couple of different times in the game. The hardest was the drop (on a hard catch to begin with) Fitzgerald had. That would have been huge. The ball was thrown poorly (but what is new about that) and Fitz had it. He had it and somehow dropped it.

After that, at any time if Anderson could keep his composure and do something, anything with the ball on the final two changes at the end of the game, we win.

Today's game came down the QB, and unfortunately, we cannot expect our QB to win games for our team this year. That is a fact and we have to deal with it.

And yes, I know WHY we are in this predicament, it is no different than the reason has been for 8 weeks so there is no need to re-elighten me on the myriad of reasons why our QB sucks.

But too be fair, Anderson had a very Leinart like game yesterday, and we still lost.

Last I looked it was a 4 quarter game. Seriously, we were playing a team that was in complete disarray and we had them on the ropes. Usually, a 14 point lead with 4 minutes left is pretty safe but not with this team. The Vikings were imploding right in front of us, and to steal a line from Denny Green, we let them off the hook.

yeah i noticed that we lost too, whats your point? Because of a close loss we played well for the most part in we should fire and cut everyopne? My point is the world isnt over and we still have a decent team. If you guys cant handle a few bumps in the road you are fans of the wrong team.

It's nice that you can look on the positive; the world does need more of that. But actually our D had a respectable 3 quarters and failed during the 4th, they were on the field too damn long.

Perhaps we could have beat Seattle and Tampa with that game. The trouble is we weren't playing Seattle or Tampa we were playing the Vikings. A broken, busted, 2-5 Vikings (who indeed are better than their record), having a coach controversy, a gimpy leader and a handful of “they are gonna be somebody some days” with a 2 TD lead and still managed to crap all over ourselves.

Individuals may have shown "improvement" but as a team we did nothing to capitalize on the situation or showcase that improvement, we are failing as a TEAM, disappointing.

Agreed.

The offense is not getting the job done, in this case.

Good post. Yes there is marked improvement in this area, and that area but:

A. There are still huge holes that are hard to overcome

B. All the improving peices have to function consistantly together. Meaning one players good game, is coming when another has a bad game. No consistancy.

Farve will do that to you. He had a couple passes today that were sick.

If we cashed in on the one bad one......welll, IF being the main word there.

The loss was a gut punch for sure.

Farve is going to the HOF for a reason, this isn't the 1st time he has done this. The loss to the Titans last year was worse IMO because it was Vince Young for gawds sake.

We all knew if this team was going to go anywhere the Defense needed to play well above average. How many punts did they force? The 2 interceptions were nice but one was after the Vikings had put together another long drive and of course the Rhodes screw up.

For this team to run the ball well they need the D to force more punts and 3 and outs. The O-line needs more playing time to gel and beat on the D-line so they wear out at the end of the game, you know like the Cards D-line did and does many games.

Only the ST's unit gets a passing grade for this game.

It's funny, I only watched the first three quarters and thought the team looked (relatively) really good. So, while I know what happened--and it's bad--my heart still has a little hope.
