not really, most great WRs are still productive in their early 30’s. Aside from Fitz, you can look at Moss, Owens, Rice, Carter, Andre Johnson, Marvin Harrison all had great years after they turned 31….if Julian Edelman can get 100 receptions at 33 there is no reason Hopkins can’t do the same.

His Dead Cap number for 2024 is $11.3M if cut or traded Pre/Post June 1st.

Given how little you actually know about the circumstances of his suspension, I can't understand why you'd question.

Dhop has some of the same assets as Fitz, e.g., great hands and veteran savvy. The hit and miss nature of WR draft picks leaves me cautious about trading away a top 10 receiver especially in a down year for wide receivers.

Nobody else on the offense scares defenses with the exception of Kyler. DCs have to account for DHop.

We are in a tough situation with Hopkins

If we trade him, we take a $22 million hit. If we don't trade him, we take a $30 million hit.

Neither are ideal, so we either extend him and lower the number substantially or bite the bullet and trade him add $8 million to the current cap number.

It's hard to swallow taking a 10% salary cap hit for a very stinking good WR to not be on your team unless this is a complete rebuild year. If that is the case, then I hope we can get a 2nd, but I'd wager it would be for a 3rd and 5th given his age and recent health related concerns..

Looking at the numbers there is no way that I would trade or release him. The only option I see is to keep him for his last two years. Plus where are we going to find a top 5 wideout other than Hopkins.

I will go first. I would not trade Hopkins for less than a 2nd rounder and a mid rounder. I have to think if I would take two third rounders.

There’s no extending Hop to reduce his cap hit prior to trade. That money has already been spent.

His current contract does make him very attractive to potential buyers because they could extend him and reduce his cap hit in the out years.

1 pick in the top 60 and a second between picks 60 and 100.

Giving the CARDS 7 picks in the first 105.

1 - Ist rd.
2 - 2nd rd.
2 - 3rd rd. (includes compensatory pick)
2 - 4th rd.

The part that most fans leave out when considering a designated post-June 1 cut or trade after that date is that the contract is on the books until after the date. In other words, it doesn't offer Cap relief that could be used in the Free Agency period before said date.

No less than a first. If it is a 2024 first, I'd also want a mid-round pick this year. If Claypool gets a high 2, Dhop is worth a one.

I have no problem moving Hopkins in a trade. I think anyone who thinks we can get a first for him is wishful thinking. I would settle for a 2nd and a 4th. Considering what we traded for him the team would still be ahead. As for Brown, let him play out this year and see how he does. Keim trading a first for him was a stupid move and a waste of a first round pick however that is history now and nothing you can do about it.

If Brown is playing well and the team is going nowhere this season, you look at moving him before the trade deadline if you want better than 3rd round compensation for him. You can probably get a 2nd from a team and a lower round pick (4th or 5th) that is in the hunt and needs to bolster their WR room due to injuries or lack of production.

If the team moves down in the 2023 draft you could very well be looking at the team going into the 2024 draft with 2 firsts, and 3 second round picks and able to select 5 players in the first 64 picks.
