Keep waiting . . . and waiting . . . and waiting for Housler to put it together at TE. Not sure if he will even make the team considering the TE's the Cards have brought in via FA and the draft.

His speed and the occassional great catch make it painful to think he gets cut/traded. Any chance that he could be moved to WR and drop the TE blocking duties.? Hate to see him move on into a better scheme fit. We gave the Cowboys a pretty good TE a few years ago.

We have a rookie that came out a year early, another who has concussion issues and a third who is healthy for the first time in years. Housler, it seems to me, is part of the plan for 2014.

There are a number of games mid season 2013, where he shows his promise, and let's keep in mind that he's averaged 40 catches over the past two seasons.

I think he flat out sucks. I would love him to prove me wrong. But the last thing is see out of him is clutch or toughness.

Housler is what he is at his point.

He may do it a different way, but Housler is the best thing since Freddie Jones.

The Cardinals will have four TE's on the roster (53 man) and Housler will be one of them. Ballard, Niklas, and Carlson will be the others. Housler made a little improvement over the season last year, and should make incremental improvement this season; or maybe not. He is what he is, a mediocre TE.

The dude's problem in my humble opinion is that he struggles heavily when a ball is thrown right at him in the bread basket because he is scared of the football. Difficult catch or over the shoulder he seems to be better off because it is not coming right at him. I have watched his body flinch and his hands come up timid when passes are drilled right at him. Dude is scared of the ball and that is why Logan Thomas might be perfect for him if his accuracy is off lol

So we could reap the benefit of his strength catching the ball? :bang:
LOL. At WR, he would not have the same blocking responsibilities. Also, he would not be going up against LBers and SS but CBs (the flinch factor as described by JetStream when the ball is coming his way). Take advantage of his height + speed. I read last year that Housler really impresses during practice---but as we have all seen underperforms when it is for real. In games, he makes some great grabs but then drops that TD pass when we need it most. Those catches are what has kept him on the roster so far, the question as to how long we wait for him to be consistent was the basis of my question posed in this thread. The few who have responded have seen enough.

Housler is going to have to prove his worth in training camp and I would not be surprised to see him on the final 53. That said if he reverts back to his old ways it would not surprise me to see him go the way of Levi last season. He gets a 3-4 game prove it period and if he doesn't perform he's gone.

I would give him one more year to prove himself. He's never going to be much of a blocker but he could turn into the next Jay Novacheck.

nfl.com lists him as one of the top ten summer trade candidates, possibly to the NY Giants. I'd be surprised if the Cardinals dealt him because I don't think he'd bring more than a 5th or 6th round pick and that isn't enough for someone at a position that lacks depth.

9. Rob Housler, TE, Cardinals: A speedy pass-catching specialist, Housler is underutilized in Bruce Arians' offense, which favors blocking specialists at tight end. As a contract year player who has not met expectations in Arizona, Housler should be available for the right price. New Giants coordinator Ben McAdoo is believed to be seeking a tight end with Housler's skill set.

Potential landing spots: Giants, Patriots, Falcons, Chiefs, Bills

I never could figure out why Whisenhunt and Mike Miller kept asking Housler to make critical blocks. It was so evident, especially watching the all-22, that the guy just couldn't make them.

Cardinal Tight Ends since Freddie Jones. Thanks for reminding me Rugby. :D

Why did Whiz and Miller ask others to do things that was not in their skillset?

Housler seems to be lacking between the ears. If he can comprehend the offense, maybe he's that break out player we've hoped for.

This can't be right. Otherwise Housler and Skelton would have been a pro bowl tandem.. :D
