I know Gambo often isn't reliable, but on occasion he gets things right (such as nailing the Lawal pick prior to the draft).

That said, he is reporting that Houston is interested in a sign and trade that would revolve around Scola and Shane B. They would obviously need to throw in some picks, and possible Jordan Hill.

Thought?

Give them Barbosa too.

As my original proposal back in RealGM..

Stoudemire + Barbosa

for

Battier + Scola (re-signed) + Hill + 2011 Lottery protected pick (or second rounder)

Ill do it.

Adrian Wojnarowski, whose is the best NBA insider IMO, said Houston will likely meet with Amare tomorrow in L.A. Cleveland will too. Miami is meeting with him tonight/tomorrow.

Scola and Battier? Done. Battier would be the best defender we've had since Marion. It would make Dudley redundant though. A pick or Hill would be icing on the cake. Love it.

Yeah, Dudley becomes a good asset for use in another trade. I like the above idea of Scola/Battier/Hill/Lotto protected pick for Stoudemire/Barbosa.

Nash-JRich-Hill-Hill-Lopez

Battier-Dragic-Scola-FA-Trade-Lawal-Collins

I'd go to battle with that.

Dud is younger and better than Battier. Why would we get older?

I don't mind the idea of Scola, but getting Battier seems like a one year deal.

Because Nash wants players around him and the organization is in keep Steve happy mode as much as humanly possible at the moment.

Scola and Jordan Hill essentially replace Amare in my opinion. Battier is probably a necessity for salary reasons. We'd also probably dump Barbs somewhere for nothing if this goes through. That leaves our 1/2/3 slots being filled by Steve, J Rich, Grant, Duds, Battier and Dragic. And we both know that there will be stretches where Battier and Duds play the four. We'd have the minutes, we made it work this year with those five guys and Barbs. Battier is a step up from Barbs in only that we have another body to throw at our biggest competition (Kobe, Durant, Roy, Manu).

It's better than Amare leaving for nothing, we'd be one of the deepest teams in the league and chemistry would only improve.

Nash, Battier, Dudley, Hill, and Scola... What's the over-under on average charges taken per game?

I'd pull the trigger on this trade in a heartbeat. Scola would have to be resigned for what I would imagine to be around $10 million per year. Hill and Budinger interest me as possible sweeteners as Scola and Battier aren't quite enough for sending a perennial All-Star to a conference rival. I believe Houston has the option to switch future picks with NY also. That could be something worth pursuing.

The only other sign-and-trade I would prefer to this is a deal with New Jersey for Favors and a TPE. I'm not sure how realistic that one is either.

LOL

I'm a UofA guy, but Jordan Hill starting at PF for the Suns? That's hilarious.

Why the hell would we need Shane? He is just Duds with a worse outside shot. Duds is more valuable in this offense with Steve. I think the Suns would end up dumping Shane. The trade would be about Scola IMO.

The Suns should also demand a pick in return.

This isn't really a surprise though since Houston was making a strong push at the trading deadline for Amare.

In this case, given Amare is gone anyway and the team with other tweaks would be one-and-done at best, why not give Nash another chance to contend by shipping him. As for example in my proposal with Nets at

:D

While most self-claimed Nash-worshippers wish to see Nash rot on the rebuilding Suns, I'm the only true Nash-admirer with a sensible idea to make him happy. ;)

I am pretty sure you cant sign and trade players combined with other contracts.

Scola is FA you can't sign and trade Amare for Scola+X.

A sign and trade with Houston basically gets down to Jeffries, Battier and Hill.

IMHO, Ghe only way the Rockets are in the hunt is some other team offers Amare a Max Max of $96 million over 5 years.

In any case, this deal only makes sense if there is another 1st involved. Battier is cap filler and Hill is not a substitue for Amare (otherwise why would the Rockets trade him). The Suns need first round picks if they are starting over.

This is not new. This is the trade that fell apart at the last minute at mid-season.

You can; I confirmed this with Coon a couple of years ago. A recent example was Keith Van Horn being re-signed by Dallas and traded to the Nets for the Kidd deal.

Which is what seems to make it more realistic. The story then was that Houston wouldn't include draft picks until they were able to give Amare a physical from their doctors (If I remember right).

Gambo says the Suns would want Scola, Buddinger and a pick..

If we got Buddinger and Hill in some sort of scenario I'd be fine with it and then REBUILD.

Dragic/Buddinger/Clark/Hill/Lopez

Scola, Bud, Hill, Battier and a pick for

Amare and Leandro

Sounds good to me, I think that could be a decent team. (Although looking at Corky Buddinger all the time would be terrible, I think he'd be a good fit)

What's the point of rebuilding around a starting five that has zero star potential?
