Would you be excited to work for a boss who is on the hot seat? I wouldn’t be.
Not what I was responding to ("Firing a HC after just one season ... may very well cause candidates to not consider the Cardinals.") but Bidwill sure seemed to dispel the notion that Keim is on the hot seat. I think Keim will last as long as the next coach (if he doesn't turn the team around) or longer (if he does).

You’re fooling yourself if you think lame duck GM is not a factor in the best candidates’ analysis of which jobs to pursue. But I’m sure if any of them pass in us you’ll find reasons why they weee going to be terrible here.
Why do you start with I am fooling myself and not address the positives of this job? If they improve the record, they will be back. Why do you not address that? I don't care who passes, only who we can get to improve this team.

I'm pretty sure the only way Keim ends up on the hot-seat is if the new coach sucks. That being said the coach would himself be on the hot-seat. I'm pretty sure the next guy gets at least three years. All but guaranteed to be improved next year. If anything I would be encouraged by the fact that Steve Keim's future is tied to my success . You know Keim is going to go all out to put a good team together.

We are talking about one aspect of the opp, the lame duck GM. I agree that AZ, Rosen, first pick, and cap room are all desirable. It’s not all or nothing. Candidates will see pluses and minuses. Lame duck GM is a minus.

And it’s ridiculous if you “don’t care” who passes if they are the best candidates. That’s how we end up with Steve Wilks.

Actually, we ended up with Wilks because we waited. I could be wrong, but I don't see that happening this time. And if they don't want to be here, so be it. Should we keep Wilks here and suck for another year to appease them? There are 32 jobs, you work in a field that had 1.34 million in the field. Quite a difference.

Also, I don’t know what to tell you if Keim blows more first and second round picks . . . no way he is untouchable. Hes 100% lame duck. And he knows it. And I’ll bet his moves this offseason reflect that.

A short-term, short-sighted team imo. We will see. Get ready for a slew of older FA signings and needs-based drafting in a desperate attempt to climb to 8-8. Will haunt us for years.

This is all true Ouchie, but if the team improves 3+ wins, Keim will be back. He is in a good position, like him or not.

Actually it’s widely accepted on this board that we were turned down by several candidates.

So a four year run of 8, 7, 3, and 6 wins is good by you? Sorry I’m sick of mediocrity.
It's not good for me. I want to win the SB every year. But the fact is if he improves 3+ wins, he will be back. I agree with you about the mediocrity, but the bar is set low right now. I don't like it either.

We actually agree more than you and your brother think. Best to you and your family and Happy New year.
Haha, I honestly can’t remember who I tend to agree with and with whom I don’t so I don’t have many preconceived notions about posters. I just take everything on a post-by-post basis.

Happiest of New Years to you and your’s!

At this point, I’m not sure if the number of wins is as important as point differential. Even if we win 6 games next year, it won’t help Keim if we lose 5 divisional games by an average of 28 points. Wilks wasn’t necessarily fired because of his 3-13 record. It had more to do with how many times we were flat out embarrassed.

I'd say we are more attractive today than at this time last year. The QB position was up in the air. We had an aging roster. We had limited cap space. Although our record was way worse than last year we have a lot more opportunity to improve...drastically.

Probably need more than one

Jacksonville and Chicago had no issues turning it around after a new head coach was hired. Both teams went from losing records to winning their division. I don't buy this BS that it's going to take years to turn it around.
