We have a new problem for this team now that the Big Shaqtus is on board. We have 3 guys who don't get calls. Amare, Shaq and even Nash. Nash used to draw fouls when he'd go inside and go for a layup. He never does anymore. He always comes out of there angry after getting hacked and with no call. Now you add shaq to that... Its almost commical watching Shaq under there sometimes. It's like everyone else is playing basketball, cept shaq and the guys guarding him. Their playing football. He's tipping over, getting hit, getting pushed, wobbling around. And he just does not get many calls when he goes up for a shot. Amare is the same way. He has adopted the "Kobe yell" where everytime he goes inside he yells - "And one". I see now why Kobe does it. Their so hard to stop that they probably get fouled almost every other shot. Do we really expect the ref's to call everyone of those? That's not what basketball is anymore.
Officials today have gotten to where they try to control the game by either calling too much or too little. I've started to notice a trend to where, when a big man starts to dominate almost inevitably a charge is called against that big guy, or a 3 second call. SOMETHING to slow them down. It happens in college too. It reveals that the refs don't want any one player to dominate for too long.
Unless your Chauncy Billups at home.
