Lonzo was much bigger and already had elite handles. He was also dunking with ease. I think it was the summer before his Sr year where he became a top-5 player nationally.

Phew!
He was doing all of that as a sophomore? Or he was doing that the summer before his senior year? I know it is Lavar talking, but he is expecting another growth spurt for Lamelo that would put him at or above Lonzo's height. Dunking is also getting easier and easier for Lamelo as the year has progressed.

Despite all the talk and excitement at the top of the draft the guy I really like is OG Anunoby. Obviously the Suns aren't going to be using whatever pick they get at the top of the draft on him, but I'd still love it if they found a way to get him on draft night.

I've been thinking about the 2013 NBA Draft. Weren't you the one high on Steven Adams?

Too bad we can't do a re-do on drafting a center.

Yeah, Adams was the guy I really liked in that draft. Too be fair though I didn't want anything to do with Gobert who looks to be the top defensive C in the league.

I think Gobert was flying under the radar of a lot of teams.

I'm glad the Suns didn't draft Bennett who I liked. Whew!

If I recall correctly, I liked Len over Adams. Good call on Adams.

Melo is a just about a year younger than Lonzo was at the same age and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he's still growing. Lonzo is more athletic but he's older, he got more athletic as he got older seems reasonable Melo might too. Gelo should be playing TE in football, he can score but he takes terrible shots and plays "bully ball" which worked in HS but won't work in college he's not big enough or athletic enough to post up in college.

It could be interesting since Lavar seems to think Gelo will lead the team in scoring but I don't think Alford is going to give in on that. If the dad isn't happy, he'll pull Gelo and Melo never plays for UCLA.

He's not seeing time over them unless there's injuries or it's garbage time. Also Wilkes will be the starting 3 so that's another wing.

That's the word I'm hearing. I think if Fultz is their for the Suns it would be a coup for us fans. Then use all the powder the Suns have to get another rim protector.

I can't shake the idea that Fultz should be the pick. He reminds me a bit of Marbury, but I don't think he has the attitude "Starbury" had and I think he's a better shooter.

Something about Ball's game irks me. I just don't think he'll be a top 5 PG. I think Fultz will.

It actually would shock me if Fox is the best PG five years from now. That kid is quick, can play some defense, and is a great ball handler. His shot needs work and if he fixes it, he will be lethal since he can get to the rim so easily.

I see what everyone likes about Jackson, but I worry about his ability to shoot at the next level. Thats why I like Tatum a bit better, I think he could be a very good scoring 3, but he won't be an all around good 3.

If Adams was on a perennial 20 win team instead of a contender and Len played the rim protector for KD/Westbrook, we would be complaining about passing on Len.

There honestly is not much difference between tge two but Len definitely has more potential left imo.

Yeah virtually nobody thinks he's going to play much but the dad has said he'll average 20 and maybe 30 so if he's serious, he's going to be unhappy.

So is Len worth a salary of $22,471,911 next season which is what Adam's salary will be?

I'm thinking the Suns do not pay him this type money.

Locking up the #2 odds makes us very very likely to have at least the #4 pick and an unlikely chance to have the #5 pick.

Being top 4 guarantees us Fultz, Jackson or Tatum or maaaaybe Ball.

This is super important, outside of the top 4 is a steep fall off. Monk is a bad fit, Smith and Fox would spell the end of Bledsoe and might not turn into substantially better players than Bledsoe if even as good.

Fultz can slot in all our lineups. We could play Bledsoe/Fultz/Booker as a trio, we could play Fultz/Booker or Bledsoe/Fultz or Ulis/Fultz or Ulis/Fultz/Booker.. Fultz is big enough and skilled enough to play the 2 as well as the 1, Booker has ok size to play some 3.

Ball, Smith and Fox don't offer this flexibility, drafting them would spell the end of Bledsoe immediately and would force us to find a trade right away.

Tatum could play with TJ Warren in the frontcourt as a forward duo or with Chriss. Or all 3 could play together with Chriss at the 5 and either Tatum or Warren as a 4.

Jackson similiarly although I see Jacksons versatility more so in guarding 2s than playing small ball 4. But Jackson/Warren/Chriss could also play together or Jackson/Warren/Len etc..

Fultz, Tatum and Jackson are by far the best fits for our core.

I'm beginning to think the perfect scenario is getting the #1 pick and then getting assets plus Jackson at 3. I don't think you can pass on a talent like Fultz because of Bledsoe and Ulis, but I do really like Bledsoe and Ulis. Not convinced Jackson is the best prospect, but I think he is probably the best prospect for us given his defensive upside.

They just drafted Jaylen Brown last year to be there SF and he's looked good.

wtf, consecutive posts.
Yup, they're they were. Might as well make it a trio. :)

I have two conflicting thoughts, Eric.

(1) When we were young, grades 1-6 were called grammar school, because that is when students were supposed to learn grammar. Now they learn, "Like, OMG, like, OMG".

(2) But the English language has more exceptions than any other language. Although we take it for granted, it is in fact the most difficult language in which to be grammatically correct.

Consider the old lie/lay/lain (place yourself down) ... lay/laid/laid (place an object down) example. How many people use lay for past tense of lie or lain for past perfect tense.

And it was the British and their King's English who originated all of the contradictory rules.

I have to say that I completely disagree with this part. I think Ball would be very good for the Suns at both the PG and SG role. He has an NBA 3 and is solid in the catch and shoot and he is also very good as a secondary passer. He does not need to have the ball in his hands a whole lot to have a big impact on a game.
