If the above is true, it says a lot about how stupid/clueless most of our players are. We're the Cardinals, one of the worst franchises in sports who finished the year 1-11 last season. If they need to be underdogs in order to give them a little more attitude, they're already dead, IMO.

Every single HC has something they use to get their troops as fired up as possible.

Are you saying leadership has no impact on how anyone does their job?

Extra pinch of attitude is what I typed.

You don't think the Colts played better with their battle cry of Pagano strong?

The Ray Lewis tunnel exit dance was fairly annoying to me but it seemed to help fire up his team. His "this is my last season" message as they entered the playoffs didn't give that team any extra edge?

I think the Lions maul us, it will be a game we will instantly want to put out of our minds. I think they do that even if it turns out we are a far better team than last year rather than the (very) slightly improved version I expect. I think we have a chance at home against Carolina, Indy and St Louis. I think we also have a chance on the road against Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Philadelphia and Tennessee. I don't think we'll be favored in a single one of those seven games though.

Steve

I have to say, from all of your posts on this season... I think we are exactly on the same page about this years team.

Your signature should be, "And Capital Card completely agrees."

Go Cards!!!

I thought about adding that as my signature but I didn't want to take you with me if I ended up going off the deep end. Besides, you already have the signature I think most of us wish we had.

I'm saying that if our players need to be prodded this way, they're idiots considering how badly they embarassed themselves last year...and most of the last three years.

that's all. it's says more about our players then our Coach.

maybe a little, but I don't put all that much stock in that. I mean, if that's the case, wouldn't you think the Saints would have been better then 3-13 in 2004, with the rallyign cry of "Do it for New Orleans!" after Katrina?

The Ray Lewis tunnel exit dance was fairly annoying to me but it seemed to help fire up his team. His "this is my last season" message as they entered the playoffs didn't give that team any extra edge?

to be honest, no. and if you listen to most of the Ravens in interviews when asked the same question, they say once they got on the field, the last thing on their mind was "do it for Ray!" hell, I just heard Torrey SSmith say that very thing today on the radio.

I believe in a league of parity that HC's try to find an edge any way they can. Maybe it has the same effect as pushing the button on a traffic light pole to hurry up the walk now light (never ever have I seen this work) or maybe in some cases it does make a difference.

Forget the Eagles HC (was a DC first) that used very vivid analogy of home invaders attacking the players families to protecting home field advantage during a playoff game (IIRC). The Eagles blew the other team out of the water and several players said the speech got to them.

So when Del Rio puts an axe stuck in a block of wood in the locker room (message was keep on chopping/working) and a player got hurt that was not a good idea.

What I remember about the Katrina motivation was the first game back in the Super Dome and they BLEW the Falcons up.

Should NFL players need a pep talk, maybe not but we are talking about Human Beings and 99.5% of us can get pumped up by inspiring words or messages.

I hope you wager with mushrooms or dandelions unless of course you have lots of extra money. And if you do have lots of extra money, betting on the Cards will solve that little problem for you.

Steve

If you want a small fortune from betting on the Cardinals, start with a large one. :D

One more than the pessimists. One less than the optimists.

I'm at zero and I'm pretty sure I saw my counterpart call for 16. So are you calling it a one win season or should we put you down for 15?

And, on your last point, the Qb said that he frankly didn't understand what Ray was talking about most of the time.

my head says 7 and 9, but i could just as easily see us at 9 and 7,

last years team was the first time that i can say that i hated watching them,
it was abysmal
i believe that we will have a very entertaining team to watch this season,
and thats all i am really wanting from arians and company

i am a bit nervous about todd bowles defense, but i think the offense will end up being "air" arians show,

all in all we have the best football brain trust involved in coaching and the front office has been a breath of fresh air as well,

i think next year we seriously contend for the division title and another appearance in the superbowl is in our future as well.

geat time to be a cardinql fan, don't you think? :)

The first week of September? Absolutely. The only better time to be a Cards fan is Draft week. :D
