it is so hard to find the positives as we sift through the rubble. I try hard to find the positives but they are there. So how many players are we away from shoring up this roster?

IMO,
One or two bad as defensive linemen.( Chris Jones!) An outside and inside linebacker. With Alford and Peterson returning I can see the defense very much improved. A bonafide safety would help. That’s 4 to 5 players.

In F/a On offense we need two stud offensive linemen and the top o-lineman in the draft. We also need a rb and move DJ to a 3rd down specialist. We need a young stud that runs hard to pair him up with Edmonds. Still to soon to evaluate the WR’s but we may need one, however, Fitz stays as long as he wants.

So if my addition is correct that is 4-5 f/a defensive players and 3 offensive players. That is addition to the draft. With 100m in cap space this is doable.

The real question remains...who makes those decisions?

We need 2 starting caliber wideouts. That plus a stud OL transforms this offense.

Our GM selected Michael Floyd, Chad Williams, and Andy Isabella. He’s never brought in a contributor as a free agent at the position.

Probably time (next season) to move David Johnson to WR. Draft or FA for:
1. A LT, and move Humphries to RT.
2. DL, an upgrade over what we now have.
3. OLB to replace Suggs.
4. Depending on how Reddick finishes the year, an ILB.
5. A safety.

Meh...Baker is ok for the foreseeable future and Reddick could be as well. If I were building this team, I would probably get an extension done with Reddick just to not have to worry about filling another hole.

OLB (free agency, and there are several options)
DE
DE
DT
S (just one, but they need to make plays)
OT (maybe two)
WR (#1)
TE
RB (a mid round back for depth)

Do people really think FAs will want to come to AZ unless the GM overpays big time? With the messed up situation at GM and poor performance in general by the team things are in a mess.maybe some stability happens with more time and KK and his system or maybe the defense makes some personel changes and at least gets competitive a bit more.If some vets aren`t getting the job done then maybe letting some kids get some time.IMO the draft is how this gets fixed eventually.

Disagree strongly on LB. They need a DWash/Dansby like ILB badly.

Ugh...those are two different types of LBs. We have Hicks...he isn't going anywhere. Reddick is athletic even if he is not great, and he is learning the system. This team needs continuity badly, and re-signing Reddick is one easy way to do that inexpensively. We are not spending big dollars on another FA ILB and we are not drafting one in the first three or four rounds. We need OLBs, DE, DT, OTs and WRs. Needs and wants are very different things.

I guess the question is can Reddick be a complementary player? I think that his strengths are/were unique enough to get him rated where he was, and if you're featuring him you can build the plays around his strengths and use his teammates to hide his weaknesses. But if he's a guy who isn't being featured and needs to do all the aspects of the job at a C+ level... I don't know of he can do that.

Both Hicks and Reddick would benefit from a better defensive line. Neither are great LBs, but both can run. I would rather deal with Reddick and add a legit defensive line player than sign another FA LB or draft another ILB in the first two rounds.

This being said, you can sometimes find ILBs later in the draft. I have no issues adding LBs to bolster special teams in hopes you find a diamond in the rough. I am just done using premium resources on them for the near future.

It'd be a lot easier to put down the guys you'd keep as the future GM

Chandler Jones
Murray
Fitz - for this year ....after this they can't afford to pay him.
Patrick Peterson - if he can get off the juice
Budda Baker
Jordan Hicks
Andy Lee
Zane Gonzalez
Christian Kirk
Isabllea

and that's your 52 man roster so far...the rest can hit the road...

Keim has this team so far in the hole there's only a glimmer of light in the sky.
The next GM would have to be a genius and pull 4 all pro's out of the draft each year for the next 2 years for this team to be competitive. Till then they're no more than a 2-3 team at best

I think they were hoping Gardeck would take a bigger step this year too. It didn't happen I preseason play. Losing Philion really put more pressure on DL performing and thrust in Allen too quickly. You can see they're undermanned and getting demoralized overall. Even Murphy who was balling out in the earlier games.

I agree; you'd much rather add to your roster; I think that you can get a pretty cheap veteran to play Reddick's role and be better.

We need roughly 12 new players identified and signed by someone with a track record for being a brilliant talent-evaluator.

I mostly agree with this list. However - there are very few teams that have everything they need.

We can make the playoffs without filling all of those positions.

Was wondering what your take is on filling the #1 WR. Do the Cards actually use that high first rounder for a WR like Lamb who has #1 potential and played with Kyler or do you go after that future LT. The more I have been watching this OL, provided they stay healthy, the more I am thinking that a lot of it is actually not their fault. I am saying they are about average but we really do not have any WRs which seem to be able to get separation. I don't know if it's the lack of space on a pro field which this offense is predicated on or our WRs just lack the size/speed variable. I am not saying Hakeem Butler is a number one WR, but that really sucks we do not have him right now

Man I honestly think it's way simpler. We are losing both sides at the point of attack. Fix that and the team instantly gets that much better. It's no wonder we haven't won much of anything since we lost Calais Campbell.

If we could dramatically improve the 3/4 DE positions along with Center and RT, we'd be in business. FS, MLB, WR, and TE are important places I'd love to see an upgrade too, but still I don't think we're as far away as everyone thinks. We've been competitive this year, we just don't have the talent at key positions to get us that 1 more score or hold an opposing offense from putting us away.

I dont think it will cost a lot to keep Reddick if we wanted to extend him. Maybe I am wrong about that. Personally, if it comes down to saving a mil or two per year, I probably keep him to ensure continuity on the defense. Mark Baron gets paid like 6 mil per year. DEone signed for 2.5. I think Reddick ends up somewhere between the two. Probably around Todd Davis salary of 5 mil per year.

There are alot more average to good players than you are listing.

Murphy is a really good young cornerback.

I was most excited about Murray going into the season. Right now I'm more excited about Byron Murphy. He is going to be a really good cornerback for awhile.

I haven't looked at WR much so far. I have heard by those on the board and also is my preliminary look that it is believed to be a deep class. Personally, I think I would prefer to explore trading for a vet #1 WR but it is tough to project who might be available. I think we could get Stefon Diggs if we wanted for a #1 which is a deal I would make in a second (2021 1st of course). If I personally had a chance to add players to help Murray, I think I would try to get vets so they could hit the ground running. Easier said than done though.

Personally, I don't love using 1st rounders on WRs but when you draft a QB, you need to support him when he is young and needs the most support. OL, WR, TE, Defense.

Hicks currently leads the league in tackles made ahead of Kuechly & Wagner. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not since it probably means opposing offenses are getting to the 2nd level instead of being stopped in the backfield.
