How much can our Oline improve in 10 days?

2 straight weeks of 8+ sacks.

You would think after the Miami game, the Oline got some extra attention in practice leading up to the ST.L Game.

Yet how did they perform so badly there?

So, again, you would expect the Oline to be the focus of every practice, of every day, since last Thursday.

The thing that bothers me most is the fatc that they still failed miserably against the Rams considering they probably spent that whole week breaking down why the failed vs Miami, and yet they still failed.

2 part Q:

1. Honestly, how do you expect the Oline to perform vs the Bills.

2. What do you expect to happen if they again give up 6-9 sacks?

Cards will give up no more than 5 sacks. Will score more than 17 points. Believe it.

Will perform better and score over 20.

(If Baptiste plays horribly, I'll guess Colledge to left tackle and Kelemete to left guard)

Well there's the problem. The more Grimm coaches the worse the offensive line gets.

If I'm the Cards OC and have watched our oline and Kolb for 13.2 games I'm installing some roll outs and other forms of moving pockets where Kolb can be more effective and moving Darnell Dockett to pass protect TE and Adrian Wilson to RB on passing downs. Try getting by them Mario.

It's this. The real problem is that after the Cards went down they completely abandoned the run game. It's not the first three quarters against Miami that was the problem; it was the 5 sacks in the 4th quarter and overtime. Kolb wasn't under constant pressure in St. Louis until it was apparent that we weren't going to run the ball anymore.

On paper, we're toast, given our OL.

Will it improve? It could. Or it might not.

If it doesn't, we'll remain toast. If it does, we've gotta chance. But you never know what's taking place in the film room and practice field and it's hard to measure or track each player's progress.

We can hope, but would have to see improvement first before we can buy into it. That said - it would be equally foolish to write this team off at the Game 5 point in the season as it would be to prematurely guarantee victory.

I agree with this, 100%.

Does anyone else think we might employ some more I-formation to supplement the weak side? I think so, but we don't exactly have a lot of TEs to use, so perhaps not.

considering the RBs and the awful line, I hope they practiced the screen a LOT this week

Actually the Cards ran a couple of WR screens early vs the Rams that worked ok. It's the RB screens that never seem to go anywhere.

yup. That's why I hope they practiced. I think LSH and Powell both would really excel in those situations rather than be handed the ball as they're already being wrapped as our line gets embarrassed

The OL was bad but not all sacks were on OL. Kolb held the ball too long in some cases and reverted to his old habit of staring at the rushers.
