Let's hope this works out better than Dennis Green pronouncing Levi Brown an elite LT. I'm actually less optimistic about DJ than I was Levi.

You guys appear to be suffering from Cooper's Syndrome... DJ will be a solid tackle for the Cards :)

Here is what that opinion is based on... Hope you are 100% right of course.

My concern is that DJ Humphries may suffer from the same malady as Levi Brown.

Many people critical of Levi fail to recognize that his failure was not due to lack of talent nor ability. When people spoke of Levi Brown's potential to be an elite tackle in the NFL they weren't wrong. Brown had that potential.

But Levi Brown failed to reach his potential due to a lack of desire. He was lazy! Brown often infuriated Joe Paterno, because Paterno saw the immense potential and also saw that Brown was not fulfilling his potential due to lack of effort!

Still Brown came into the NFL draft extremely highly regarded. But old habits die hard, and Levi Brown never overcame his tendency towards minimal effort.

We all should hope and pray that there is not a repeat performance from Humphries!

I get the trepidation fans have for starting DJ, but he hasn't played a down in the league due to a red shirt season, and we're already comparing him to Levi Brown?

I have no clue how he's going to play during the season, but let's wait before we give him the dubious Levi Brown comparison.

I have mentioned this before, but I have a friend who's brother is on the Florida coaching staff, and after we picked DJ, he hit me up and told me we would love him. Much different view than Paterno had of Levi.

Good endorsement. Having Hump playing at a high level would really help to solidify the Oline

Let's be clear, there is no way Dennis Green would have ever even considered drafting Levi Brown over Adrian Peterson.

I hope he's right at least on DJ

I think you misunderstood the point of my post. It seems to me that some posters are saying that there is no comparison between the two, i.e. - Brown and Humphries, because Humphries is far more talented than Brown.

I'm saying that Brown had plenty of talent, but he was as lazy as a football player could be!

Humphries, like Brown, has the natural talent. Now we need to see if, unlike Brown, he has the desire!

This is what I am hoping!

I know. I suspect he was trying to puff up Brown's confidence. I suspect the same thing is happening here, even though BA was part of drafting Humphries.

Again, hope BA is incredibly correct and DJ winds up being a first ballot HOFer.
