So you want Darnold, think he's "the guy," but don't want to move up to #1 to take him? He's not going to slide if he's the best.

That’s a great point, Solar, and one I have thought about a lot, and actually still haven’t decided on.

My thoughts right now is that is will cost a fortune to move all the way up to the first pick, which has been proved recently when the Rams did it. I am leaning towards it being too rich for the shot at a rookie that haven’t proven anything in the big league. I definitely get you point that if he’s your guy, then you obviously have faith that he will develop properly, but it’s just that he is in fact a rookie, and nobody really knows how they will react when coming to the NFL and being the starting quarterback of a franchise with everything that goes into that both on and off the field. It is a huge gamble.

If that sum would get you Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees or Matthew Stafford, guys who have shown they can perform on the biggest stage, then I would do it.

The potential champion is on the draft not in the free agency qb market
The so called no risky no biscuits mentality should be displayed on the first day of the draft

Sorry, my recurring point here has been that you can't move up to that spot even if you want to... the Browns desperately need a true franchise QB, and the Giants will likely follow suit.

I would give up our next 3 first round picks (including #15 this year) to Cleveland for the #1 pick so I could take Sam Darnold.

But like Solar said, I don't believe Cleveland is looking to trade down from 1.

From Redskins’ reddit:

“I'm not paying a QB 30 Million who's bad in December & Shows no dominance in the Division. Put money on the defense and draft defense. Nothing has changed for Kirk other than that bumass market. Not even much better than Sam Bradford.

Kirk Cousins 2017

vs NFC East: - 64% comp 9 TDs 9 INTs 74 PR 1-5 WL in December: - 56% comp 6 TDs 5 INTs 75 PR 2-2 WL

Since 2015

Kirk Cousins 4.8 TD% 1.98 INT%, 22-21-1 W-L

Andy Dalton 4.8 TD% 1.76 INT%, 21-19-1 W-L

Why is the narrative so different between these two? Ryan Tannehill has similar stats too.(I knew I'd be downvoted without a response).“

I hope Cards don`t waste money on Cousins.Flash and dash without much substance ( big game wins) to justify the money.Sign a caretaker QB and draft QBOF.

I'd rather they go after Smith then cousins.

I'd be happy with Smith, Cousins, Bridewater, Keenum (maybe Bradford, but can never stay on the field obviously). Even if the Cards do get one of these guys, they still need to find a QB in the draft at some point. Problem is there is so much in need on O line and WR too. Ugh

Okay, then I misunderstood. My bad. You are obviously right that it’s not solely up to the buyer. Personally, I believe the Browns should go hard after Kirk Cousins, and if they do, maybe they are more willing to sell their pick and just select at #4, but that is for a whole other discussion. I was actually talking more about moving into the top five. Maybe with the Colts that are sitting at #3.

My point about Sam Darnold was not that he necessarily is the best player or even the best quarterback, and neither was I trying to imply that he should be selected first overall. It’s just that I personally like him the best out of the quarterbacks.

:shock::mrgreen:

Imo Kirk is just good enough to get you to 8-8 & maybe a playoff game once out of every 5 years or so & bad enough to get you beat.

Mike I just haven’t seen him put his team on his back & carry a team when needed especially late in games. Imo that’s what separates the great ones from the good ones. Hell I don’t even think Cousins is as good as Carson.

It sure is funny that the Skins would rather franchise they guy 2 or possibly 3 years in a row & pay him $25 mil a year instead of locking him up. Hmmmm

I'll say Cousins has a better career than your TD maker dude. I think he compares to another QB you liked Johnny Football, although I think Baker will not be stupid enough to throw his career away and stay in the league as a back up. We shall see, I'm still on the Lamar Jackson Train.

If that’s all it took, I would absolutely do it as well.

Having a legit NFL arm & being able to be accurate with it are two different things. So you would take Jackson's 50% completion percentage over Mayfields 70%? Doesn't make any sense to me.
Also often overlooked is the prospect's upside, coachability and how quickly (or slowly) he can improve.

i.e. Has Cousins gotten as good as he can get? Can much can L Jackson improve in 6 mo., a year, two years?

He has both this year :)
And he’s 2-1. They’re “3rd” in the division, but only because the Lions have a tie and the Packers have already played this week.

He’s looked alright.

But I’ve said a ton of times, he would have been a terrible choice knowing what we know now. I believe it would have led to another win or two, but it still wouldn’t have been a good thing.
