Thanks Solar. First , prayers for your grandma.
Second, you and I bucked heads for the longest time on a variety of things. I eventually joined your klan and now we’re both wrong.
Thanks a lot…. Lol.

I was lukewarm. I thought he might do something being reunited with his RB coach, but he has far exceeded my expectations. Not only has he stayed healthy, he is a touchdown machine who can close out games with gusto.

You can add me to the list also. He has been 300% better than I ever expected. He has been arguably one of the best RB's the Cards have had in AZ.

Ditto. I keep waiting for that inopportune fumble that cost games in Pittsburgh--thankfully in vain. I keep waiting for that inopportune injury that lost him playing time in Pittsburgh--again, thankfully in vain. Along the way, I realized I stopped holding my breath against the negative and just began enjoying what he's bringing to the table.

Solar, all the best to your grams!
I think a lot of Conners issues were really Steelers issues.

I posted his yards after and before contact last season earlier in the offseason. Conner got less yards before 1st contact than any other NFL starter last year. That tells you the Steelers offense was the issue. And its not like Harris is lighting the world on fire this year, he's been pretty pedestrian.

He has more in the tank than I expected, and he is exactly the type of physical runner we need.

I know its a huge longshot, but I would not mind "overpaying" both Conner and Edmonds on 1 or 2 year deals. Based on Conners performance, I would pay him 8 million next year...I just don't want to be locked into any RB for a long term deal anymore.

BTW...Billy Jack (the clip above) was filmed in the Prescott Courthouse Square...right across from whiskey row!

His production was fine when he was playing and playing well in Pittsburgh. It was injuries and bad fumbles that had me concerned. Nice to see those in the rear view, though!

Cannot afford it. We have tons of FA and RB is not the position we can spend money on.

I was fine with his signing but certainly wasn’t over the moon about it. He’s been much better than I expected as a short yardage runner. He almost always gets at least 3 yards, and that’s even getting hit at, or behind the line of scrimmage. He surprised me in his longer gallops yesterday!

This. James Conners stats last year are always identical to Najee through this year. Najee averaging 3.7 YPC.

It's not just that the darksiders are "wrong" sometimes.

It's that they are often so epically wrong, even when they should known to hedge their negative opinion based on available evidence. It makes them appear clownish. Murray, Green, Murphy and Conner are at least four examples.

"Player A is trash, not a big bruising back, washed up, slot corner, no desire, too short.. blah blah blah".

If you're going to poop on the parade because in your heart-of-hearts you think we desperately need a dose of truth, fine. But most people come on this board to hear positive things about the team. It's annoying when the darksiders are just throwing negative stuff against the wall to see what sticks. Just spoiling the mood.

You can say that this year but over the years the darksiders have been right.
I have been a koolaider for all but 2 years. The year we hired Wilks and going into this year.

Man I don’t know where to start with this post.

First, considering the drek that has been the history of the cardinals before and after they moved to AZ the darksiders have been right MUCH MORE OFTEN than the franchise-humpers. I mean, if we were to lineup all the things the darksiders have been right about to those the humpers have been right about it would be downright laughable. Not only would you be forced to wear a clown nose, but buy a clown house and live under a big top. But you know what? Darksiders don’t crow about being right about the drek you’ve cheered for and supported that repeatedly set our franchise back years and years. And we don’t engage in the childish calling out of other posters with the “nah nah you were wrong” garbage. The vindictiveness of the humpers leads me to the belief that they lead sad lives if they need to attack other posters for some semblance of satisfaction.

Also, I won’t speak for everyone here (as you presume to do), but I think most posters come to this board for a myriad of reasons including (but not limited to) discussing the good, bad, and ugly of the cardinals, getting information on the cardinals, venting (a LOT), discussing football, celebrating wins, asking questions, planning for meet ups/getting tix/learning how to get cardinals feeds, and yes, some like you, want to attack other posters to feel good about yourself.

Man was your post awful.

Moreover, I don’t think you even get the tremendous irony and hypocrisy of your post. On a day we are all celebrating an enormous win LOOK WHO DECIDED TO POST AND PISS IN FELLOW FANS’ CHEERIOS. Congrats. Great self awareness.

Seriously? If you want to just hear positive things about the team, go to AZcardinals.com. They'll tell you plenty of good things, and never make you feel badly about anything.

I'd like to think most come here for the best AZ sports related info, but maybe some people are just looking for a rah rah board.

Let me rephrase. I believe (IMO) that most people visit the football board because they love the Cardinals, and they are hopeful of reading something positive about the team, but that they do not enjoy reading things that are gratuitously negative.

Only my opinion that this is true however.

Yeah, like I said, if the goal is only something positive, then state TV is the answer.

I don't think that's what ASFN is for.

Of course you do - bc you came into the board to attack and you’ll continue to do so. Bravo. Great member of the community!

You're right in the concept that Darksiders will be right 9/10 because of the history of the franchise.

But here is the thing...this was a bad offseason to be negative. Sure last season ended with a sour taste, but the team took a step forward last year, and it wasn't a stretch to say that 1) the young players (Murray, Murphy, etc.) would take another step forward 2) the players they brought in were accomplished enough and the team wasn't relying on any of them to be franchise saviors.

What I mean is that, this possibility wasn't that crazy. I thought the Cardinals would have a winning record and even worst case scenario wasn't going to be like a 3 win season. And even then I was wrong because this team might win 15 games. So if I, a somewhat koolaid drinker was wrong, the Darkside was VERY WRONG. Like ridiculously wrong and there were those of us who literally pointed out EVERY SINGLE THING WE ARE SEEING.

I thought Conner was going to be a solid player.
I thought Green was going to be solid.
I was wrong on Watt.
I thought Murray was going to be a semi-MVP type player this year.

I could go on and on and point fingers, but honestly, I think the darkside is happy too, so why do this? Just eat the damn crow and learn the lesson that this team isn't the same as what we saw under Bill Bidwill.

No no, it's not enough to eat crow! We must abase ourselves further and never DARE say a negative word on the message board again, for fear we will be called out on a crow-eating thread! :sarcasm:

Not directed at you, but at the ridiculous sentiment earlier in the thread.

I think we are past the point of demanding the dark side to eat crow.

I get the sentiment, but the negative view of the Cardinals historical has been 100% warranted.

None of the darksiders are pulling against the Cardinals.

You had to be a koolaider if you thought:
Murphy was going to blossom
Alford would actually contribute
Simmons would come if age
Watt would stay healthy
Thompson would blossom
Conner would be this good
Kingsbury would come of age
Green would bounce back
Kyler would blossom
And there’s more.

Miraculously most of everything mention above has happened! Good for us!
