Yes, you read that correctly. I did not think JJ Nelson would be durable enough to make an impact in the NFL. Well, he made an impact. I think I was likely correct about his kick return potential, but as a receiver he can be a factor. He will have to improve his technique at getting off the line, as that will clearly be the best way to mute his impact. Still, he really fits BA's style of how to play the game.

On the other hand I believe the jury is still out about Golden. He's getting plenty of accolades for his strip sack. However, it was essentially a "jail break" blitz. The Cards brought more rushers than there were blockers. The idea is someone will get through. He certainly made the play and that is significant. Still I need to see him win some one-on-one rushes and finish the deal before I'm convinced.

Golden is doing fine. He has 18 quarterback hurries, 7th most in the league. He has an incredible motor. He's getting mentored by some great players (Freeney, Campbell, et al) and is only going to get better.

Nelson's biggest challenge is his tiny size, but I think he'll overcome that. As he builds confidence, wouldn't be surprised to see him returning kicks again sooner than later.

He should put weight on over the off-season.

I liked the Golden pick when they made thanks to CBUS. I think he'll do fine, and I also believe that signing Freeney will help this kid.

When you consider the sad history of our second round picks, Markus Golden is doing amazing as a rookie.

Seeing so many rookies contribute this year takes away some of the sting of DJ Humphries doing NOTHING. I mean we dress Sowell over Humphries and he plays on the FG unit. Why can't Humphries at least do that?

I think we need to put his style and talent into perspective here. He's a rugged, physical player with a huge motor. Don't think you Can compare him to the Houston, dumerville, Von Miller et al. with those measurebles. But I think he has shown enough potential to be able to develop into a Paul Kruger or Pernell Mcphee type of player.

And James Harrison, given his relentless pursuit.

As a 2nd round rookie, he's doing just fine... And IMHO, he's flashing the brains and the physical ability to improve. We may have finally found a high-quality 2nd rounder!

at the worst: JJ Nelson is a very dangerous specialty receiver. for a 5th round pick, outstanding

at the worst: Golden is a solid B level outside rusher who can compliment a defenses overall pass rush --- likely never a guy who an offense will have to account for specifically, but one that will provide pass rush while playing solid rush defense. Again, for a late 2nd round pick, I will take it.

We just have to make sure we don't send him over the middle to take shots. Though the same could be said it would be smart not to do that to any receiver. Palmer has been pretty good about that this year, though it might be because so many of our routes are downfield, and the stuff over the middle is usually shorter. Plus Fitz does a good job of protecting himself.

When he got hit going across the middle earlier in the game and had to come out I thought that was it for him. Was relieved he came back. He can't be put in that position or he will surely break.

I was wondering if you changed your mind on JJ. I will say that he does need to put on some muscle weight because he is too thin to last a season if he is used at the same rate as the Bengals game.

I disagree about Golden, it may have been a jail break blitz but Golden won the hand fight with the OT and beat him one on one. OT tried to punch Golden in the chest and Golden neatly slapped the OT's hands aside and then ran past him for the sack.

Having to be a DB/CB against these Cards receivers has to be a nightmare. When you think you shut down a receiver, then another one steps up. Then you think they are shut down, then the TE burns you. Plus, you have a QB that can put passes that no human should be able to place (and then some that we would throw :p).

It amazes me the speed of Brown and Nelson. They seriously have an extra after burner after they catch the ball. Love it

I wish we could find another Bert Berry. ;(

I'd settle for another "B" Train!
