WOW!
I really can't believe people think Big Ben is a better player than Fitz. But you are entitled.
Yeah he is a good QB, but Fitzgerald is an AMAZING WR.
Cut it up anyway you like but Fitzgerald is a great WR, he is young, and has shown he can play with the best under any conditions.
Ben is surrounded by a GREAT team right now. I wanna see how he handles the downside of the rollercoaster.
Fitz is the better pick.
I think the argument is a very good young QB might be more valuable than a great young WR.
NO question Fitz is better at WR at this stage than Ben is at QB. But the question is value wise is having a guy like Ben at QB for the next 10 years better for a franchise than having Fitz is?
You can make cases both ways, great young QB to build around has a lot of value, so does a WR.
I'm happy to have Fitz, I think he's a marvelous player, iI wouldn't have picked him but I'm not mad we did. But I gotta admit I do watch Ben play and drool at the thought of him being a Cardinal. People can downplay his role all they want but compare his worst game(yesterday) to what Eli Manning did in his implosion.
To me Ben has something most young QB's don't have. For example yesterday on the big 3rd down he screws up the handoff to Bettis and just coolly takes off and gets the first down. Somehow he resisted the temptation to flip the ball behind his back to a teammate that someone else did when a handoff was missed a few years ago.
Considering the enormity of the Super Bowl I am not overly surprised Ben struggled. His stats would have looked better if Ward hadn't dropped that pass that hit him in the hands in the endzone.
