Several is probably an overstatement. No receiver catches 100% of catchable passess.

Overall, I thought our receivers played pretty well today.

Well there was at least three that were right in the chest that were dropped today. So Ill change it to a few. Hows that?

Every team in the NFL has fans who think they drop too many passes.

Josh couldn't really win the last 2 weeks, the teams we were playing were so bad on defense if you put up big numbers so what, if you don't, you suck.

Hopefully he does it against Seattle and Tampa also. It is what it is, he's got a chance and he's taking it. Not as well as say Billy Volek is taking HIS chance with the Titans but Josh is making his case to be back in some capacity next year.

Russ you sure overgeneralize alot. Those same Ds have made very good established QBs have mediocre games this year. None the less he is doing it against NFL teams.

Only blemish is that fumble. I can't believe we held the Rams scoreless on Offense.

First time in 2 seasons anyone has held them without a TD on offense. Oh and we also held them to under 200 yards of total offense.

Great game for the D and Josh

Shane the Rams have 6 picks in 14 games, the 49ers have 8. St Louis dead last in picks, only 4 teams have less than the 49ers. They've allowed 45 TD passes combined. They ARE bad defenses, Josh played well against both of them, I'm not saying he didn't, just saying i want to see it against a good team.

Seattle is 2nd in the NFL with 20 picks, I'd like to see Josh look this good in a game against them and then Tampa before I go saying he's our QB of the future.

That's all I'm saying. He still has yet to show up in a game that really mattered, but Green didn't give him the chance when he started Navarre instead of josh against Detroit.

Russ,

He already had a decent game against them(seattle) the first time we played them. 22 of 36 212 yds 1 td and 1 Int. Not great but good enough for a win when it counted.

That same SF D that you are downing made a Very good Chad Pennington look horrible the week after we played them the first time. Anyway you slice it this is the NFL and any secondary or D is capable.

Oh and bythe way this game did count. Last I checked we are still in the playoff race?

Ok, I'll split the difference with you Shane. But for every drop, there was a least one great catch by one of our recievers.

McCown got good protection and a good performance from his receivers today. It was a team effort on offense.

That being said, McCown's passer rating for this game is probably near 100. Like you said, he's close to locking up the starter's spot for 05'. And I am full on in agreement with that. He was big time today.

Big time.

During the broadcast of the game, they said his passer rating was at around 113. I don't know if thats correct or not but thats what they said

That was the game josh looked good early, and then basically stunk the rest of the game nearly giving it back to Seattle.

20-30 for 222 no picks, no td's is "horrible" but Josh's game against Seattle was decent? Both guys won, neither played spectacularly or horribly.

Mathematically sure, we win next week it looks a lot better and that's what I mean, that would put us one game back of Seattle with the tiebreaker in our favor. Seattle closes with Atlanta, a team who has clinched already, that's my one fear, we win next week, beat Tampa, but lose because atlanta rests Vick that game.

Next weeks' game is important, it's a pressure game, let's hope Josh plays well again.

i dont know if he will be the starter next year. I certainly have thought he will be back since he is young, cheap and talented. I am just hoping for continued improvement.

He's making a case to bring him back, that's for sure. As the unquestioned starter, certainly not, but as a player in the mix at QB, yes.

This type of spanking on the RAMS is long overdue.

Ah, the smell of victory!!

His rating was right at 110 actually, however it's only one game.

I agree, I don't think we have a QB on our roster that in any way deserves the unquestioned starter label.

I am all for signing a FA vet like Bledsoe and then keeping Josh and John as the backups.

I could absolutely live with that. I'll give Josh credit, I thought him being benched, and then bypassed for Navarre would bury him, I didn't think he had what it took to come back from that. he has, I was wrong on that front. hopefully he'll prove me wrong again next Sunday and beat Seattle.

7-9 and division champs would look pretty funny, but I'd take it.

No judgement

I simply liked what I saw out of Josh McCown today, Bryant Johnson (though he did have that one pass hit him right in the numbers) and even Anthony Clement. Leonard Davis and "the fullback no one can spell" where HUGE!

Honestly a vet like Bledsoe could help Josh and John a lot and I think with these WR and our current line blocking at least on passing downs like they are it could work.

Hopefully by next year we'd have more cohesion in our line to make that possible. Now he'd die most likely but he also knows how to get rid of the ball faster than Josh does.

With Bledsoe and DeAngelo Williams and even a late round or FA burner WR we could go four wide and just light people up like a Xmas tree.

I think we sign a quarterback who is a free agent and draft either a running back or defensive guy with the first pick.

If Josh keeps playing like this we wont need a FA of any kind.

Whoa slow down there Shane!

I think we need to bring a good vet in. I like McCown as our week 1 starter next year but I don't want to have nothing to turn to like we did when Jake was here.

That'd be nice but its hard to sell a FA QB like Bledsoe that he doesn't have the job without competition. If Josh continues to play like this (a big if) for the next 2 games then he deserves at least a shot at getting the starting job next year.

We just have to wait to see how he does the next couple of weeks before we can really decide anything

Chad Pennington against SF, some guy named Shane said he was horrible in that game.

And remember that's the game he first injured himself.
