How about this @Chopper0080

R1: Wirfs/Willis

R2: Curtis Weaver

R3: Tylan Wallace

I’ve never seen Weaver get to the QB any other way than with speed around the edge but he’s not that fast. He’s a guy who’s not going to jump off the screen or show out at the combine but you flat out can’t argued with results. He’s a sack machine

I’d love that pick in round 2

If the Bengals play their cards right they could have both Chase Young and Trevor Lawrence by 2021.
Repeating as the #1 pick is harder than repeating in the World Series. Only the Browns have done that.

Sounds like Marcus Golden.

If Burrow wasn't a southern Ohio kid, I could see the Bengals taking Young. In fact, they SHOULD take Young. He's the best player. But Mike Brown will likely play the local boy makes good angle to sell tickets and draft Burrow.
They'd be much better off with Young/Lawrence than Burrow/anybody in 2 years.

Maybe I don't know jack......

PFF's newest mock has Wills going #4 to NY. And Wirfs going #9 to us.

  1. Burrow
  2. Young
  3. Okudah
  4. Wills
  5. Tua
  6. Brown
  7. Thomas
  8. Epenesa - they lose me here
  9. Wirfs
  10. Lamb
  11. Jeudy - Woah..... Another head scratcher.

Simmons is at #14. I just don't see how he falls out of the top 10. he has a 92 coverage grade on PFF. At S/LBer. The dude is a Julio Jones level freak.
It’s very early but several gurus have now moved Lamb ahead of Jeudy. I’m one of them. You’re correct, Simmons is definitely top 10.

A lot of mocks have us taking AJ Espenesa. Isn't he strictly a 4-3 DE like Bosa?
Some believe he could play a 5 technique 3-4 DE. I’m not certain enough of that to take him at 9. I think he looks much better in a 4-3. He has the most power of the DEs, but speed is a major issue.

If he's there, Isaiah Simmons should be the no brainer pick.

DJ is going be the LT and I'm not drafting a RT in the top 10 unless he's head and shoulders the best player on the board which would not be the case if Simmons is available.

What position hurt the Cards defense the most, TE's. Simmons shuts that down from day 1. He can run, he can tackle, can rush the passer, etc.

Here's his strengths from Walter football:

I think the defense could use a guy like this over a RT.
I think the Cards will take a long look at him. He’s potentially better than Hicks, especially in pass protection. It’s just a question of which player would have the most impact.

Simmons is definitely top 10.

if you look in the division-- the Cards play two QBs who really, really like throwing into the middle of the field: Garrapolo and Goff, and, really like using TE and RBs in the passing game

i love the idea of a big wingspan guy with speed to roam the middle of the field

They could still get b2b kids with Ohio ties in Young and Fields but I agree they’ll go Burrow. Mike Brown has already had success with the Kitna/Palmer transition and could do the same keeping Dalton for one more year easing in Burrow.

I won’t be upset if they don’t pick Lamb (especially if they go defense), but not only is Lamb a great talent he would also slide in seamlessly into these route concepts and has chemistry with KM.

He would have a bigger impact immediately than most other players we could draft, while also having a ton of upside to be a great WR.

I wonder how this board would feel if we went CB, AJ Terrell, in the 2nd round?

Im not putting in a whole of stock in Alford & I’m still questionable about Peterson.

Liking this because I agree about Lamb potentially having the most immediate impact, but I still don't think it's the best choice. However, at 9, my opinion is a little different than where we were hovering around a top 5 pick. If Lamb slips, he's very dynamic.

I still want to focus on the trenches or LB though...

I would love Simmons then Lamb if Simmons isn't available.

I like both Weaver and WR in round 3 though I worry Wallace may be relegated to a slot role in the NFL. That being said, Wallace, Aiyuk, Pittman, Jefferson, DP-J and Mims all seem like they should be available where we are at in round 3 and would probably win a roster spot easily.

Jaylon Johnson also fits in round 2. I like his press man game.

Taking Isaiah Simmons is about matchup and the what the team feels he can take away. Like Derrick Brown, he is another guy I liked last year and was disappointed when he stayed in school. If you feel like he can take away the stretch running plays of Minnesota and SF, the TEs of Philly/SF/Atlanta and the interior passing games of New Orleans/LAR...you can make an argument. But if he can't, then you just have Haason Reddick 2.0.

I am much more comfortable with the idea if we come out of FA with better players at RT and DE because those are spots where I think you can argue the draft offers solid value in round 1 where we are at.

You’re gonna hate me but I really wouldn’t mind Jalen Reagor in the 2nd round. @Chopper0080

He really got screwed over by pathetic QB play this season.

I would take Juedy over Lamb because I think he’s got higher upside. He is definitely raw and inferior to Lamb right now though... I can see Lamb’s connection to Murray tipping the scale in his favor. I definitely wouldn’t take either over Derrick Brown. I’m looking forward to digging deeper on Javon Kinlaw.

it’s the other way around Juedy is the finished product and regarded as the best route runner to come out in years.

the biggest diff: Simmons has played the position you would draft him for - for three years against big time competition
I understand that they aren't from the exact same situation, but they both come from a college hybrid role and they enter into a position whose value is questionable in terms of a top 15 pick.

This is a tough situation. I like Jalen Raegor...a lot. I think he is more of the player we intended to draft last year when we drafted Andy Isabella. This all being said...his game is really raw. He reminds me a lot of Andy Isabella where I believe his learning curve is going to be steep based upon what he was asked to do in college. The other issue is in relation to the roster. I don't think he contributes at WR initially. I love his ability as a returner and if you are willing to let Pharoah Cooper go and use Raegor as a return man initially, I am ok with that. However, FA comes before the Draft.

I wouldn't take Raegor in round 2. I would take him in rounds 3 or 4. I think he is similar to Tyreek Hill without documented personal baggage (at least that I have seen). A super raw player who is going to take some time to develop. Personally, I am not interested in that type of player in round 2.
