Never ever played CB in either his school or pro career. Has been a S from the get go.

I still don't buy this "stiff hips" , lack of fluidity tag that some keep laying on Wilson.

The only thing I've seen or heard is that he has demonstrated some deficiencies in the coverage area. It is my supposistion, and has been for over a year, that it is not so much a matter of physical skill but more mental.

I've also never heard any insinuation that he's dumb or "stupid" per se. The only thing I've ever heard is that he may have a "listening problem" and/or a tendancy to lack of discipline as a team player. He doesn't always do what he's supposed to do, or what he's been coached to do.

In that respect he reminds me a lot of Junior Seau. Seau had great physcial talent. The biggest knock against him by team mates was always how he sometimes caused overall defensive problems for everyone else because he would sacrifice his team role for the attempted spectacular individual play.

I still think if he gets his head straight, he could be one of the most awesome DB's in the game, whether it be safety OR CB.
It will be very interesting to me to see how he adapts to not only the coaching change, but the situation change. I think he could possibly be a good corner. I also think he can be an awesome strong safety. He and Roy Williams are two of the hardest hitting DB's I see in the game the last couple of years. And actually right now, I've seen some more awesome hits from Wilson than Williams. (although, admittedly I don't see Williams as much).

No, I don't think the problem with Adrain Wilson is physical in any way. I think its all upstairs.

.....and don't even get me started on Michael Stone. :D

Personally, I have always liked Justin Lucas at Safety.... no need to draft one or sign one in free agency. Draft BPA as Dennis has said and fill the other wholes in free agency.... don't think we need any help at safety.....and I prefer Wilson at CB....but it all comes down to him making the effort to do it.... Dennis needs to make it clear to him he needs to do this to stay on the field.

I agree with Tango 100% here.

Physically there aren't many (if any) DBs better than Wilson. He's fast, strong, perfect ht/wt for the NFL and hits like a truck.

To say his problems are mostly mental isn't necassarily saying he's dumb, Albert Einstein flunked out of school. Like Tango said, it seems to be more of a problem of him not listening. Maybe he thought our coaches were full of BS, maybe he has ADD. Hopefully he plays up to expectations this coming year.

If we move him to CB I hope we pick up a quality SS though.

C'mon, you get the point.

I said that because on an earlier post someone got mad about us implying Wilson is stupid because of comments that his problems were mental.

I didn't mean that as an actual comparison. Einstein sucks as a safety, is slow and can't hit.

I would add that on top of that, my impression is he was assuming his pure athletic ability would allow him to make plays when in the NFL it takes that same ability but a large emphasis on preparation...both coaching and individual prep. He was out of place alot, IMO trying to do things he wasn't supposed to be doing within the context of the defensive play and at the same time, I am not sure of the quality of coaching he may have gotten to actually place him correctly or maybe more importantly to pressure him to spend alot of extra time breaking down film.
