if warner does sign with detroit or somewhere else, what do we do...kitna, fiedler? there really arent any fa's id like to seeleading this team, i suppose we could trade for a gerrard, rivers, shaub tyre but it will cost a lot probably a 1st rounderf or the two latter qb's. besides that i guess we hope for a rookie in the draft? could be scarry.

Tom Tupa?

If Warner doesn't re-sign, we go for someone like Kitna in FA, or as you said, trade for a guy. If Warner didn't re-sign, I'd bet Denny would have something for Culpepper in the works.

IMO this will never happen. But if it does I would be happy with Kitna as long as we fix the running game he would be fine. Now if we could get Culpper if he is good to go(he says he will be ready by camp)....And that's assuming the Vikes would let him go? Then it could get interesting. That being said it ain't gonna happen. It's Kurt's team for the next couple of years.

mccown!

it sucks but, after warner, theres noone i want. I would be interested in culpepper if he wasnt questionable for his career from the injury. Kitna doesnt impress me, mccown is young and knows whats going on, he should make less mistakes than most.

Nobody seems to mention Patrick Ramsey as a late cut option. In my opinion he is worth every bit of consideration as any of the other QB names being bandied about.

And as for Culpepper......I have a 1999 Mercedes 280 SEL with a broken axle that is going to cost me a ton of money to fix in order to make it road worthy, sitting in my garage. Now my mechanic insists that we can fix it, although he acknowledges that the parts are as rare as hen's teeth. He swears however, that once we fix it, it will be as good as new....me I'm not too sure.

However if there is someone out there who wants to risk it, I'm open for offers.....the bidding starts at $10 MM.

I came up with a list of qbs that we could possibly get without having to part with our number one pick they include (in no priority order):

P. Ramsey Redskins
M. Schaub Falcons
J. Kitna Bengals UFA
B. Griese Bucs
A. Brooks Saints
J. Harrington Lions
B. Voleck Titans
Girrard Jaguars

Cullpepper will be unlikely to be physically able to start the season. When he starts he will not be the runner he once was. This will not be the same Cullpepper.

As much as I dislike McCown he is probably the best thing available for us. He knows the system. Never thought I would say this! I must be losing it!

I doubt the Jags would let Girrard go anywhere and if they did it would cost dearly. He saved their butts this year.

Quit delaying the inevitable and either draft or trade for franchise QB and throw him to the wolves.

I'd rather drink anti-freeze than see Jay Fiedler quarterbacking the Cardinals.

That guy has the WORST arm in the NFL. I realize, arm strength is vastly overrated in some cases (i/e Matt Leinart, who's accuracy and decent arm work hand in hand) however I've seen kids in the sandlot with more arm strength than Fiedler.

As for the question, should Warner jump to Detroit or anywhere else, as much as I'd like to see a QB drafted then thrown to the wolves, it won't happen.. Not with Green's balls on the chopping block. I also think the bridge between the Cards and Josh McCown is too far burnt for any kind of return, so I see yet another stopgap option (i/e Kitna, Ferrotte or someone of that variety).

Lastly, to those who think Culpepper is coming to Arizona, I really wouldn't hold my breath too much on that happening. For starters, as many others have stated, who starts the first three or four (even that's asking for an almost immediate recovery) games while Culpepper continues his recooperation? To me, putting Navarre in is akin to asking for another 1-3, 0-4 start. As I said above though, even that's being generous and hoping the guy can recover from torn anterior cruciate, medial collateral and posterior cruciate ligaments. Generally, that much damage takes at LEAST a year to fully heal with extensive physical therapy, which would put his earliest target date at the beginning of November. And with rumors of Minnesota asking for the 10th overall selection AND Adrian Wilson, I'd sooner pass and go in to the season with Navarre at QB than pay that much for a guy with a shredded knee.

Alll in all, really the best option is to re-sign Warner.

Out of the guy's on the list, I like Ramsey and Volek. I haven't done much research into which qb's would be available since I'm pretty certain that the Cardinals are well aware of the March 3rd deadline and will have something done by then. But, assuming the list is the best of what's available, I'd take Volek then Ramsey as my 1st and 2nd choice based on potential. I like Schaub too, but I really don't think he's going anywhere so I don't think he's a realistic choice. I could be wrong, but I don't think the Falcons really want to part with him.

Anyway, the rest of the guys on the list are pretty much defined. Griese, Brooks, Kitna, etc. are all solid guys but they've pretty much shown what they can do. Volek and Ramsey seem like they might have some unknown possibilities that could be a benefit to the Cardinals long and short term.
