Who said anything about walking on water or being a savior? Who said he won every single year? MJ would have done more with this Laker team. Maybe not a title but he would have done more.

Highly doubtful. He would have done just what he did with the bad bulls teams in the early 80s. Scored a lot.

Did Jordan's early career simply vanish?

He did more then score a lot. MJ was a much better defender then Kobe will ever be. Again, nobody says MJ won titles instantly when coming into the league. I bet MJ wished he had someone like Shaq to rely on in the post early in his career. Trying to compare the two is ridiculous but I wouldn't expect anything less from Lakers fans.

I went back to look at the early years for MJ. He put up some awsome numbers, but the team did not start jelling until they added Cartwright and Grant to the MJ and Pippen duo.

You can read it any way you want. Why can't the Lakers get someone who can take the pressure off Kobe? Caron Butler might have been that guy, but he's shipped off after just one season.

That goes both ways.

In order for that to hold true you would have to assume that I love the Bulls which I clearly do not. I see the MJ Bulls led teams the same way that I see a Kobe led Lakers team. It's just the competition. The only teams I can honestly say I hate in the NBA are the Spurs. Even that will pass.

I loved watching the Lakers in the playoffs when they had Shaq. If I hated the Lakers that wouldn't have been possible. Besides I am originally from California and a converted Laker fan.

Because he's no savior. He wouldn't have done JACK on this lakers team either...he played on bad teams too. Contrary to popular myth, the dude didn't win a championship every year he played.

no but he got bad teams to the second round and conference finals.

there's no comparison between Kobe and MJ as much as you and Kobe wishes there was (Kobe almost made me drive off the road when he compared himself to MJ yesterday on PMS. Seriously, the ego this drama-queen has is beyond the charts.)

Jordan got the 2nd round in Pippen and Grant's rookie year and AT LEAST the Conference Finals every year after that, in the much tougher Eastern Conference, even starting as a 6 seed, beating the 2 and 3 seed, before giving Detroit a 6 game run in the Conference Finals. That is SO BEYOND anything Kobe has been able to do with better talent. As second year players, Pippen and Grant still weren't dependable players or half the players they ended up being.

Kobe's greatest claim to fame is not being able to put away an injury-depleted Suns team, blowing a 3-1 lead and quitting on his team in Game 7.

There's no comparison between the two except that Kobe is a phenomenal scorer. MJ WILLED bad/mediocre teams to 50 wins (Pip and Grant's rookie year) and a second round series and then WILLED the baby-bulls to the Conference Finals. Kobe's never even won a round without Shaq in a much watered down league.
