At least if Kobe were traded to the Suns, although I'd die inside personally, it would be funny to see the various ways tons of former haters in the Valley would start jocking him.

The silver lining, I guess.

You already know my position. I'd welcome him with open arms.

Kobe is nice but he is not worth Amare, Barbosa and an unprotected pick in 2008 from a team that has been in the top 7 in the lottery for like a decade in a row.

Totally agree. The reason the Lakers would make such a trade are the same reasons the Suns shouldn't make the trade. Amare alone is worth more than Kobe. The Suns would be giving up one top notch star, one future star and possibly even a lotto pick. No thanks.

If Amare's knee acts up in a few years, Kobe might last longer.

Kobe has not impressed me without Shaq. I'd rather gamble on Amare's knees or something like the Phoenix/ Memphis proposal where Memphis would trade Phoenix the #4 pick and Gasol for Amare. I just think there are so many better trade options to explore than Kobe. If the Suns feel compelled to trade Amare then the Suns can probably even get a better trade proposal than the Memphis offer speculated upon above.

Oh wow. I just heard the Kobe interview on 570 in LA. This will get worse before it gets better.

Asked about all the front office stuff recently...Jim talking bad about Phil and then jeannie pissed at Jim, and then Kurt defending Phil, all on the radio...and Kobe says the front officeis a MESS. He's incredibly pissed right now. Also, he said he compared notes with Phil on their exit interviews from 2004 and they were told two different things so he's mad there too.

:|

Reiterates not wanting to be traded but wants the team to be fixed. Said there is desire on the players, says Luke and Lamar work their asses off while injured and yet no moves are made to make the team better.

If interested, it's already up on their site.

I'm a big Stoudemire fan, but that's absurd.

I disagree if Amare stays healthy. The only thing Kobe has shown me in recent years is that he can rack up some high scoring games if he so chooses. I guess I just don't see Kobe as the next Michael Jordan anymore.

Michael Jordan wouldn't look like the next Michael Jordan on this team, either.

Wow, Kobe just reaffirmed a lot of the stuff Shaq said on his way out a few years ago. I knew that the Buss fsmily was into coke and partying a little too much but who knew that Jerry West was so crucial in keeping that ship afloat? What a disaster, I'm not sure after that interview that the Kobe/Lakers relationship can ever recover.

unless the Lakers pull off a miracle and get KG or Jermaine O'Neal, Kobe's gonzo after next year. With an opt-out and coming on the heels of a year where the Lakers likely don't even make the playoffs (assuming no KG or O'Neal) both he and the Lakers would happily decide to part ways.

at least in an off-season following the Suns getting raped every which way but lose the Lakers are a collasal mess. In the immortal words of Carl Spangler, "so at least I got that going for me... which is nice."

I guess this will be the greatest test of blood being thicker than water. Does Dr.Buss choose his son, the idiot Jim (wo Jerry West, Phil Jackson or Kurt Rambis all despise) or Kobe, the guy he supposedly loves like a son? Because after all the guff on the radio the last month, it doesn't seem like the two can ever co-exist in Lakerdom.

So I just heard the interview and... uh... WOW. 24 just threw the ENTIRE LAKER ORGANIZATION under the Buss (pun fully intended).

people will long remember Kobe for his achievement as greatest drama queen of all time if he doesn't get off the Lakers. That's great.

If Kobe does become available, you have to offer anyone except Amare. Kobe+Nash wouldn't be a good tandem, Amare+Kobe will equal rings.

Nash, Boris, Bell, #24 Pick for Kobe, Turiaf, and Mo Evans

Barbosa
Kobe
Marion
Amare
KT

Bench: Does it matter?

LOL again. Not even Nash, Boris, Bell and the pick for Kobe alone. Aging PG, overpaid Diaw and an enforcer, plus a late round pick? No thanks.

Honestly, I don't want Kobe for anyone, some guys are just really fun to not like and for me he is one I don't like. Best pure basketball player in the league IMO, but I still don't want to be forced to like him.

What trade would you be ok with, that doesn't include Amare

None. I don't want any of the other stuff on the Suns roster in exchange for Kobe. Amare, that's doable but only with filler for the Lakers like both your picks Even then it's a bad trade for the Lakers.

Kobe for Amare straight up makes the Lakers worse, and the Suns smaller. There's no way it would happen with the Suns.

The Bulls are probably the only team a trade would happen with, even though I seriously doubt one would take place.

But Nash, Marion, Bell, Diaw and those types are of no interest to the Lakers. Not for Kobe.

The bottom line is that the Lakers are a bad team. Adding Amare would not change that and at least Kobe gives them a chance to win games by scoring 50.

While we are at it, swap DA with Phil too.:D

Actually, it might not be a bad idea to do Nash/Marion/Bell/Atl-pick/#24 for Kobe/Mihm/Farmer trade.

C:Bynam/Brown/Turiaf
F: Odom/Marion/Walton
G: Nash/Bell/Evans

should get Lakers at least to 2nd round in playoff immediately barring injuries. Nash will make the job of Bynam/Turial a lot easier.

For the Suns,

Kurt/Amare/Diaw/Kobe/LB with Mihm/JR/Farmer/Rose as backup is a little thin but a really strong nuclus.

That's because your primary focus is on having superstars in LA. Otherwise, Nash-led team will get you success right away.
