If we defer taking a QB this year

Let's say we don't take a QB as our#1 pick this year and use the rational that we'll give McCown another year and see what's out there in 2005's draft................well the likely #1 QB next year is Andrew Walter by all accounts. So, for those of you in AZ who might be followers of his, what is the bottom line on him?

Andrew Walters is so good that his team finished in 9th place in the Pac 10. This guy is a fraud. GO CATS!

Don't like the idea of bringing in a homer again. Too many bad memories of Jake's performances over the past years and a big part of the reason he was brought in was to sell tickets. I say grab Ben or Eli while we can. A player that is considered a true franchise QB without the Cryin Leaf attitude.

Nope there are higher rated guys out there in all likelihood. If Cal's Aaron Rodgers comes out he'd likely be ahead of him for one, Vince young will be draft eligible, Leinart with USC. If Walter has a great year he can certainly get that high, but he's not there now he had a bad year.

Two years ago, I would have taken Walter with the first pick. He showed a rocket arm, unbelieveable accuracy, and better scrambling skills than one would imagine. Watching ASU's offense two years ago was like watching an arena football game. I thought for sure we would be competing for a BCS bid.

Flash forward to this year. What the hell happened? Walter forced balls, was inaccurate, and looked like a statue out there. Sure, he lost Shawn McDonald, but this was ridiculous. Unless he shows something in the upcoming season, I couldn't justify spending a first round pick on him.
