If we had simply just done this last year, we'd have Luck or RGIII today

Seriously...we decided to rally around Whis and win 7 meaningless games down the stretch to finish 8-8. Whis didn't lose the team, and they pulled out wild wins.

Now, when there isn't a good QB to be had, and we've already racked up 4 wins, Whis loses the team, we drop the next 12 and still get a pick outside the top 5 (most likely).

That...THAT...right there is sooooo very Cardinals.

We could have had Eli Manning years ago...remember this draft ruining play?

We'll win again this season...only if it means destroying our chances at a good draft pick.

Wrong. We'll keep losing because the joke is that there are no good draft picks in this class. We'll end up with the moral equivalent of Jonathan Sullivan.

It's going to be EPIC.

So you're saying we'll lose out, and end up with the equivalent of either Andre Wadsworth, or Leonard Davis.

Cool.

no way... if we had gotten the second pick, after the raping we took on that atrocious Kolb trade, we probably would have traded the rights to RG3 away for a bushel of draft picks and ended up blowing all of them.

Nope. Because those guys were good. We'll go 4-12 the hard way and end up with the equivalent of Bryant Johnson and Calvin Pace, only one guy drafted twice as high.

Oh, trade down to get 3rd round talent in the 1st. Truly the Cardinal way!

Just go 0-16 in a year or two and we can Take Johnny Football. Or Johnny Heismanziel, whichever.

No. There are 2 teams with only 2 wins and 1 team with 3 wins. We;d be aorund 5 or 6 right now.

On the flipside, we got Fitzgerald out of that play.

And the Giants have 2 Super Bowls out of Manning. That said, if he was unwilling to play in beautiful San Diego, on what planet does anyone think he'd have played here? What's worse is that our management isn't smart enough to have made a trade to get a player like Philip Rivers. We would have ended up with some draft picks to screw up and Fitz would be playing somewhere else.

Say hello to Matt Barkley.

There's a pretty significant USC booster who haunts this board who has connections to the Trojan community. What has been communicated to me is that after Whis's interactions with Leinart (and one can only assume Lutui as well), there may be zero interest from Trojan prospects in working with the Whisenhunt regime.

That point may be moot now that it seems like Ken Whisenhunt's tenure with the Arizona Cardinals may be coming to an end.

There are lots of ways that a kid can tank a prospect meeting without having to go "full Eli" and ask that a team not take him. A perverse incentive of the new CBA is that the money difference between #3 and #5 isn't so great that a player couldn't pass on a bad situation to find a better one a few spots later.

I don't think Whis would take him, but I could see the team, with a new coach, take the "best QB on the board" and draft the next Matt Cassell with a top 10 pick.

You would think they learned their lesson with Matt Leinart and Levi Brown, but I doubt it. As much as the Cardinals 'need' a franchise quarterback reaching for one in the first round would be a mistake IMO.

No chance. Whiz wasn't the only one on Hardy who Leinart repeatedly ticked off. And there's way too many similarities between Barkley and Leinart although I would be the first to admit Barkley probably has a better head on his shoulders.

Anyone who dumps on the McCown to Poole play is crazy.

We got Fitz because of it. And yes, I'd take him over Manning, because Eli wasn't a package deal with Coughlin, that Defense, OL and the Mara's...:D
